This book outdoes every funeral manual I've ever seen. The depth and breadth of the essays and sermons---quite astonishing! On the one hand, this book is extremely practical in its guidance. And on the other, the book provides important theological background for understanding national, local, and personal crises---something that is missing from the other funeral manuals I own.I've concluded that this is not really a funeral manual--it's much more, and therefore will remain on my desk for many years to come. Except that two weeks ago I loaned it to a therapist friend, and I'm afraid I'll never get it back! This is an instant classic in the field that I doubt will ever become outdated. |
