Times Like These, an outstanding mix of originals and covers, (his 3rd on Severn), is the highly anticipated follow up to his 2001 W.C. Handy Award nominated I Like It That Way, (for Soul / Blues Album Of The Year). With echoes of R&B and Blues greats both dear and departed, the work sounds as if it was lifted from the shelf of the Stax studio library - Sweet Soul Music at its finest! As evidence try to resist singing along to the definitive closer, "Right Here At Home", a cross between Sam Cooke's "Havin' A Party" and "That's Where It's At". It should be put on a tape loop, and just play on..."pull out that Jackie Wilson record..."

Just bought the CD in a internet-store in Germany - had the chance to see him live but missed it.. Very very sad! An absolut GREAT record in best tradition of the good ol' stuff (Stax/Atlantic)! Best album of the last 12 (or even more) months for me! It's in my CD player and it keeps on playin again and again.. Thanx for that great music!
