A Delightfully Humorous Romance,
By A Customer
This review is from: Time's Tapestry (Paperback)
This book captured my interest because it combined two of my favorite types of Romance - Time Travel and Regency. I was delighted to find out that it was humorous as well. I could not put the book down. I got a kick out of the hilarious antics of the heroine "Cara" when she was trying to adjust to the life and times of Regency England. As an avid fan of Life in Regency England, I believe that the author had a strong grasp on how life was in those days and seeing a modern day female trying to "Fit In" kept me rolling on the floor with laughter. The parts I read to my husband, made him laugh as well. The Hero "Stephen" was better in this story than any other Time Travel I have read because he knew where she came from and was trying to keep an "open mind." Of course, being sexy and handsome did help as well. Great Job Joan Overfield!

This book is a book two which can be enjoyed whether you read "The Door Ajar" or not. "The Door Ajar" is about Cara's brother and the women who comes from the past to be his wife. "Time's Tapestry is about Cara. She is a modern British police officer. And she ends up back in her sister-in-law's time.

I really liked this book, however it took me a while to adjust to the English way of talking. The female character is from London and the male from old traditions of royal titles. So the two main characters always had a lot to say, but always kept their feelings at bay. The time period was interesting and very fact based. It made you think what might happen and I couldn't seem to figure out the storyline which kept me on my toes. I was glad when all is well in the end.

I read this book in one sitting. It kept me enthralled. I loved the sense of humour and thoroughly enjoyed a hero who was not a bully, and a heroine who was not a wuss. I plan to find as many of her books as I can.

Continuation from THE DOOR AJAR,
By
This review is from: Time's Tapestry (Paperback)
This is the second time-travel regency and sequel to THE DOOR AJAR from Ms. Overfield. It is best you read the first book before attempting TIME'S TAPESTRY so you have a background on the characters and storyline. You met Miranda and Alec in the first tale; this narrative belongs to Alec's sister Cara and Miranda's former fiancee/husband Stephen(they were only married for a few hours).
I should mention that I probably would have stopped after reading THE DOOR AJAR because it was alright but nothing special. But I wanted some questions answered that I hoped this story would resolve. It did. No longer published, if you plan on reading either story make sure you have both books and read them in order. You will be glad you did. Like Alec in the first, Cara is an officer of the law who comes off as abrasive and rude; something I think Stephen would have had a very difficult time adjusting to let alone a person he could love. She is beautiful and I think the author wants the reader to believe that her looks will overshadow her manners, speech and personality. He is the Earl of Harrington and believes in honor above all else. Stephen accepts Cara's story of coming from the future. What he doesn't know is she believes she must save him from dying before his time. This is a story about a serial killer and there is little mystery of who it is if you pay attention to the facts. There are some interesting secondary characters, Aidan, Gilbert, and Mr. McNeill, but die-hard regency fans may want to reconsider reading these stories. The stories are aimed at lovers of time travel romance. How long a minute is, depends on which side of the bathroom door you're on. ~Zall's Second Law
