4.0 out of 5 stars Timeshifting the Night Away!
The ability to manipulate time is but one of the many interesting and fun facets of this FPS. Not unlike F.E.A.R. you can slow down time (bullet time) and rush your enemies in order to take them out before they can even draw their weapons. Timeshift takes that a step further by giving you the ability to stop time alltogether or to reverse time. It's a novel concept,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Time Shift Review - It's Okay
Time shift is the standard post-apocolyptic first person shooter with the standard array of weapons and tactics. On the positive side, the AI is intelligent, shifty, and reacts to any part of their body that you shoot. The environment is very similar to the feeling of Requiem or Red Faction II in that you're always fighting through tunnels and open streets. The weaponry...

4.0 out of 5 stars Timeshifting the Night Away!, November 2, 2007
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Timeshift (Video Game)
The ability to manipulate time is but one of the many interesting and fun facets of this FPS. Not unlike F.E.A.R. you can slow down time (bullet time) and rush your enemies in order to take them out before they can even draw their weapons. Timeshift takes that a step further by giving you the ability to stop time alltogether or to reverse time. It's a novel concept, but it is starting to get a little tired. That being said, it doesn't necessarily detract from the overall experience of Timeshift. The graphics look pretty polished (still not as good as Gears of War) and it's pretty amazing to watch explosions in reverse time. I experienced some mild framerate issues during one timeshift, but it hasn't happened again. There are many situations that require you to manipulate time in order to get through the level. For example, a hallway might get decimated before you have a chance to walk through it. No problem. Simply reverse time, watch the hallway reassemble, and you're on your way. There's a little bit of platforming, lots of shooting, and plenty of bodies flying to satisfy most FPS fans. I guess the only real downside is that it resembles F.E.A.R. too much in it's gameplay. There isn't any real horror element to speak of though. The plot of Timeshift does mirror F.E.A.R. in that you are pursuing a crazed leader bent on domination, just in an alternate reality so to speak. Despite it's similarities to F.E.A.R. I still recommend this title. The ability to manipulate time is enough to keep you satisfied and intrigued.

5.0 out of 5 stars Both Single AND MULTIPLAYER FUN--An Evergreen Classic, November 7, 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Timeshift (Video Game)
What a wonderful First Person Shooter. First--the Single Player takes a solid 20 plus hours (indoors, outdoors, in the air, and on) to play with the use of Slow, Reverse, and Stop time and your ability to literally gib--and reverse, gib and reverse, and play with your enemies. The game is technically astonishing with a depth of dynamic shadows, incredibly detailed environs and a butt-kicking (no-slow-down) frame-rate. Then when you get great at it--you can play it again against AI that is better than first rate and makes great use of your ability to confuse them (temporarily) with the time powers.
The Multiplayer though?
It puts other games to shame. I have never seen more game types--faster play for up to sixteen, and had such fun with everything from Rocket Arena to Team Deathmatch. There are new modes like King of Time (get the player with the time powers and you become the target) and Meltdown Madness where you use your four time grenades (Multiplayer has weaponized time bubbles) to slow the coolant to your enemies reactors. This is more fun than Halo 3, Half-Life Orange Box, and Bioshock combined (and actually longer than the new content in the three of them if you include multiplayer. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A GREATLY UNDERRATED ROMP, December 29, 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Timeshift (Video Game)
I'm amazed that this game hasn't gotten better reviews! The story is literally the only weak portion of the game, it has superb graphics with no frame rate issues or jaggies, super fun and diverse gameplay, and competent AI to make your stay enjoyable. I've beaten it on Easy and I can definitely see playing it at LEAST one more time on a harder difficulty. Big thumbs up from someone who plays a lot of console FPS. $29.99 from Amazon? A steal....

5.0 out of 5 stars An Underrated Gem, March 3, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Timeshift (Video Game)
How games like this get overlooked while mediocre games like Rainbow Six Vegas get all the hype, I'll never know. What a little gem of a game. If you're a fan of Sci Fi shooters, you'll like Timeshift. First the bad. The story is almost non existent. But what it lacks in story, it makes up for in gameplay. In the beginning, I found using the time shifting abilities a little cumbersome. But once you get used to it, boy does this game get fun. The graphics are excellent, the guns are cool. The environments are varied and challenging. The enemies are smart and will flank you fast. The game never feels redundant. One of Timeshift's greatest assets however is the checkpoint system. I HATE games where if you die, you have to repeat the last 6-10 minutes of gameplay you just finished before you died. This can ruin what might be an otherwise decent game. That never happens in Timeshift. The checkpoints are perfectly placed. It becomes apparent that the developers put autosaves just before really challenging parts. A huge plus! All I can say is don't let this game pass you by. I am a fan of shooters like Resistance, Halo, Call Of Duty franchise, and in my opinion Timeshift is just as worthy a shooter.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic But Probably Overlooked FPS, November 10, 2007
By
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Timeshift (Video Game)
Since I played the demo, I knew I'd want this game. It's simply fun. Other than the time powers, it may not do much more than other FPSes, but it's the gameplay that counts. People might think being able to stop and slow down time would make the game super easy, but there are points where there are so many enemies that it can become quite tough. Especially as your time powers can only last a certain amount of time, you have to work fast if you don't want to die.

The graphics are for the most part great. Mostly what you'd expect from a next-gen game. The weapons are fun, but there could be a bit more variety. That AI is definitely quite good, but of course, the coolest part of the game is being able to slown down and stop time. There's nothing like blowing up a couple guys in slow mo, or stopping time and stealing the enemies' weapon then watching him freak out because he has no idea what just happened. The multiplayer is also a ton of fun and quite balanced. This game will actually pull me away from Halo for awhile. If you're into shooters, definitely add this to your list.

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING, November 30, 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Timeshift (Video Game)
This game is amazing. When i played the demo it was amazing. I knew i had to have the game. You can freeze time, rewind time, or slow it down for about 3-4 seconds. The guns are amazing. Ill let you find out what they are. I recommend this game for xbox 360 or play station 3 either one is sick-nasty. What i think the best part about TimeShift is the online multiplayer. You can have 2-16 players in a game. The possibilities are endless in multiplayer. Im still finding new stuff in it. The storyline may be a bit confusing but you can try to do it or go online and find a walkthrough. The first person shooter is unbelivable in this game. Then the graphics are great as well. Its what you would expect from a next generation game. I think that this is the second best game for xbox 360 besides Halo 3. I would definitly suggest adding this game to your cart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everyone should buy this so they will make a sequel!, July 25, 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Timeshift (Video Game)
The story mode on this game is actually fun and challenging. I have to wonder what game people are comparing this to (most likely COD4), but when comparing it to the Halo series it blows them out of the water. (I wish the main character could jump a little like master chief tho.) The destructable environments look great, the gameplay is very difficult, and at times you will be stuck and can't figure out where to go or what to do, and all of these things combined make TimeShift a fun and welcome challenge.
When it comes to fps games there isn't much that we haven't seen. The ability to control time is seemingly all thats really left. Sierra (whom I've never heard of) did a very good job developing a 4D game, and I'm very excited to see what they can do with their sophomore effort. So if people can drop $20 and buy this game new like I did I think that the next TimeShift will be one of the best FPS games ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a cool movie, and your the main star., June 27, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Timeshift (Video Game)
I love this little game, The look on the bad guys face when you freeze time and run to the side of them them unfreeze is priceless. or freeze blow them away the unfreeze, this game is sick. The story needs some work but it's not that bad. The Xbox game is cleaner then the PC version, in the PC you do more interacting and walking from one activity to other, the Xbox game loads and your at the activity. I played both and not much of a change. This is a sleeper FPS. The Time shifting is the matrix on acid.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Fun For A Game I Never Heard Of, June 8, 2008
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Timeshift (Video Game)
If you like HL2 and Fear type games, you'll probably have fun with Timeshift. It isn't all that different than other games. It is a lot of fun to play though. There are lot's of good battles and some decent puzzles that make you think about how to use the time shifting. Four years ago this would have been a slam dunk hit. It came out a little late. Much more fun than what the reviews made it out to be.
