About the Author

I was born in a coal mining camp in Eastern Kentucky. At the end of the Second World War my family moved to a tobacco farm in central Kentucky. During this time period I was needed more to help feed the family than to attend any semblance of formal education. In 1950 I fought in the Korean War. I remained in the service, and served two tours in the Vietnam War. I retired from the service in 1970. I was self employed for ten years. I worked as a mechanic on construction equipment for a few years. I retired from the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. Then I decided to write.
