Timex Ironman watches always meet my expectations and this watch actually exceeded my expectations for 1 reason. Every other Timex watch I've owned, while I love them, they all broke in 1 year (the band every time). But this band (only 2 months into it) is fitted to the face more sturdily and it's thicker in the former weak points. I'm VERY tough on my watches. I run hundreds of miles with them but that's their easiest job. I do yard work, construction work, car repairs, etc. usually with them on and so far this one's tough enough for the job.
Besides it's seeming durability (though it has another year to truly prove that to me), it's 50 lap memory is great for track workouts, it IS waterproof as I've swam with it after almost every run (so far about 40 times). It's easy to use, buttons make sense in their locations and their functions, and it's very readable with a big screen.
The only con is, as others noted, the lousy "Ironman" word and logo are on the watch quartz face and both the ink and the shadow from it sort of reduce readability. It's no biggie, but it is very stupid placement on the designers' part!
Highly recommend it and love using it!

I bought this watch because of the interval timer. I'm surprised that not all Ironman models have this feature. I do walk/run intervals mainly at night. Although I have not owned the watch very long, it has worked great for this purpose.

The best feature for interval training is that the alarm/signal after each interval is very loud and distinctive. Because I usually run at night, this was an important consideration -- it is not necessary to look at the watch to know if a new interval has started. The repetition counter is also great.

The numbers are very large, and Indiglo has always been a great technology. I don't think there is a better runner's watch for night running.

Weaknesses? As the other reviewer pointed out, the Ironman decal on the face leaves a shadow on the face -- I wish the watch face was all clear. Also, this is a very light weight watch which I suppose is great for running, but I don't think it will take a beating like my G-Shock. It would also be nice to have more than two interval timers.

If you need a runner's watch with an interval timer, buy this watch.

Superb.
Unlike the brighter metal and blue finish T5K496, this darker T5K494 being a darker colour, looks deceptively smaller.
Does just about everything.
Looks great.

I bought this as watch to wear daily and also for capturing splits when doing track workouts. For daily wear, it's great. For the track it works quite nicely.

My only complaint is that I wish there was a way to get the backlight to stay on for a longer period of time. I often do my track workouts early in the morning and having the ability to see my lap time half way though a lap would be nice. An adjustable backlight option would make this a 5 star item!

Just got this watch and i really like it.

One of the main reasons i got this watch was because I needed to be able to see the face without glasses. I need reading glasses, but i can clearly read this screen fine without them. All the other functions work as described.

I wanted to give this five stars, but couldn't due to the strap and the buttons. The strap is thinner than what i'm used to, almost like a ladies band. The buttons on the sides of the watch don't have much resistance which is different than the start/split button. i'd prefer more resistance.

Also, the Ironman logo on the face is annoying. Someone posted a review on how to get rid of it. Basically take the watch apart, use a cloth and toothpaste and gently scrub it off. I am not mechanically inclined, but did what he posted and removed the logo. The face looks great now.

This is an excellent runner's watch. It is extremely easy to set, particularly in comparison to similar Casios that I've owned/evaluated. (I also looked at the Casio Men's WS220-1A Solar Runner Tough Solar Multi-Function Runner Watch for running. The body of the watch and the display was far more complicated than the Timex, which just looks a lot classier. It also takes longer to set.)

The simplicity of the screen is great. Though be aware--this is a big display and a pretty big watch overall. May not work for small wrists, but it's excellent when you glance down for a quick time check.

Note that the watch has both a regular countdown timer AND an interval timer. So you can count down overall running time while also running intervals. Nice.

Alarms are nice and loud as well.

Pros:

Cheap, currenty on sale for less than 35 bucks
Interval timer, 3 alarms
Huge display that has month and date in it
Seems durable, I've smacked it against walls, used it as a grill timer (and got it into heat and smoke), taken it swimming laps at the pool (I doubt this thing would survive the ocean)
Indiglo is bright

Cons:
Strap is thin and feels flimsy
Buttons are big, so if you're lifting weights, you can inadvertently extend your wrist and hit them
Doesn't like the cold, the display gets sluggish when the weather gets in the teens (so you have to wear it UNDER your layers when running, where you can't see the dial)
Doubtful it has 100m waterproofing

Short:
For 35 bucks, this is one of the best watches out there for anyone running/training.

This is a really nice watch, I have no complaints. It does have 2 interval timers, which is important to me when doing speed workouts. 2 time zones that can be set independently, 99 lap memory for splits, 3 alarms. Great watch. The watch band does have a small tab at the end, which keeps it attached to the loop that goes around it.

Great value watch, performs as expected, hopes it will last for many years. Still learning how to use the functions altogether.

My first watch had a nonfunctioning Indiglo Light. Pressing the button did not illuminate the display. I exchanged the watch for another. The second watch also had a defective Indiglo Light but the problem was slightly different. Pressing the button caused the display to remain dark but the numbers were faintly illuminated. The illuminated numbers were bright enough to see in total darkness but too faint to see if the lighting conditions are merely poor. All in all it makes the Indiglo Light useless and defective.

The second watch had been previously used and returned by another customer. The peel-off protective film on the display was missing; the chronograph had 3 laps recorded; the paper instructions were folded sloppy and incorrectly; the watchband was loosened on the plastic display stand. Perhaps the original buyer returned the watch because of the malfunctioning Indiglo Light.

I wish the light had worked because the rest of the watch is a winner. I've used 50-lap Timex Ironman watches for many years (and I'm familiar with the Indiglo Light). This model appears to have a stronger strap - it looks less likely to break than the previous strap. This model's display is larger and the numbers are larger and easier to read. Others have noted that the display is partially covered by a logo - although unfortunate it wasn't a deal-breaker for me.

The deal-breaker was the malfunctioning Indiglo Light. I returned the second watch. It's nice Amazon has a good return policy.
