4.0 out of 5 stars Nice for the Price
I needed a heart rate monitor that wasn't too expensive and would do the job. This watch does all of that.

Easy to setup and operate due to the lack of features, this watch does the job nicely. The strap isn't uncomfortable, and I don't even notice when I'm wearing it anymore. The strap does have a faint but high pitched audible beeping noise that can be a...

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this monitor
I purchased this monitor a couple months ago at Amazon because one can change the batteries. I have owned three monitors previously and you had to send them off to get the batteries changed. This is a great watch. However, it isn't worth a plug nickel as far as the HBR monitor. After several attempts at trying to switch to the monitor mode you might get the monitor to...

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this monitor, April 23, 2010

I purchased this monitor a couple months ago at Amazon because one can change the batteries. I have owned three monitors previously and you had to send them off to get the batteries changed. This is a great watch. However, it isn't worth a plug nickel as far as the HBR monitor. After several attempts at trying to switch to the monitor mode you might get the monitor to start but most of the time you won't. Once it does switch to the monitor mode it only lasts for a few minutes and then you're back on the watch mode. Many times it has shown my HBR to be as low as 30 bpm. When I take my pulse it is actually 60 bpm. Very aggravating piece of work. I will be looking to purchase another monitor. Hopefully, the next one will work.

1.0 out of 5 stars Piece of junk, July 14, 2010

I won't buy another timex, they lost a customer. I know junk when I see it, this is it. I can confirm the other review, this thing reads my heart rate at 30 bpm, if it can even read my heart rate. Eventually, it seems to read correctly, but if you are doing anything more than light jogging, this thing wont be able to handle it, it will lose the heart rate with intense exercise. I do not understand companies who make crap like this. They shouldn't even bother with it, as now I do not think I will ever buy another timex again.......

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing first monitor purchase, August 17, 2010
This review is from: Timex Easy Trainer Heart Rate Monitor (Misc.)
I too bought this product during the initial period where there were no reviews. I bought two, one for me and one for my wife and I was severely disappointed. Either the watch has a problem picking up the signal from the band or vice versa. Because we had two I was able to troubleshoot battery issues and such but when it comes down to it they did not consistently work. As far as accuracy, I wouldn't know because it was rarely to get the product working long enough or reliably enough to test accuracy. I'm still looking for a product that works for my large sized chest.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice for the Price, January 28, 2011

I needed a heart rate monitor that wasn't too expensive and would do the job. This watch does all of that.

Easy to setup and operate due to the lack of features, this watch does the job nicely. The strap isn't uncomfortable, and I don't even notice when I'm wearing it anymore. The strap does have a faint but high pitched audible beeping noise that can be a little annoying at times, but in a noisy gym, I don't notice it. When I'm walking into the gym my workout partner doesn't notice it either. It's pretty much only when I'm sitting in a quiet room that it's audible.

I thought that this device came with a calorie counter feature. It does not. (I looked at about 500 HRM's before purchasing this one, so probably my mistake)at the end of the workout, it gives you your maximum heart rate reached for the workout, total time during workout, and average heartrate throughout the workout. It's also easy to toggle between time and heartrate during your workout. Overall a very good product for the price. I've been using mine for 6 months and haven't had any trouble out of it. the strap also works well with the machines at my gym (used mainly on a Keiser spin bike, though occasionally on the ellipticals can't recall the brand right now.)

4 stars because of the beeping.

1.0 out of 5 stars A complete piece of junk, March 15, 2011
This review is from: Timex Easy Trainer Heart Rate Monitor (Misc.)
If I could do so, I would give this zero or even minus stars. This is a piece of junk. I bought it last Summer, and it has NEVER worked. I have changed the strap battery twice, but nothing - it will not even register a heart rate. My Polar watch buzzes along just fine - links perfectly with most cardio machines, and its own watch, but this piece of garbage refuses to do anything. What makes it even worse is that there is no way to contact Timex by e-mail, even though it is 2011.
As far as I am concerned, I will never spend money on any Timex product again. Ever.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great for about 6 months!, January 10, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Timex Easy Trainer Heart Rate Monitor (Misc.)
I bought this watch in March 2010. I used it regularly (5-6x/week) for about six months. It worked wonderfully! Then, all of a sudden it stopped working!! When I was running it would not give me a heart rate, and when it did it would be in the 50's which, obviously wasn't correct. I'm so disappointed because I really liked this watch. I've since upgraded to a watch that calculates calories burned, but I'm still upset that this one broke after a mere 6 months. If I want it fixed i need to pay to ship it back to Timex, and include an $8 check for shipping, handling, postage and service. Perhaps this is an example of you get what you pay for.
