I've been wearing Timexes of some model or other for more than 30 years and have always been a fan of the "combo" approach of an analog dial with a digital display strip at the bottom - best of both worlds generally.

But I am very disappointed in this one due to the very poor visibility of the digital display. The LCD background is dark and hard to tell apart from the digital numbers themselves. In addition to that, the digital part is sunken below the surface of the watch face, resulting in a shadow being cast from the cutout within which the digital part sits. And the Indiglo function does not noticeably light up the background of the digital display, so that doesn't help either. I find it basically unreadable most of the time.

It seems Timex has two different digital strip components - this one, which is horrible and should never even have made it out of product testing, and the one used on watches like the T41361 (which I also own) that is dramatically better - clear, high-contrast, less shadowing, and illuminated by Indiglo. The T41361 display is great, I love it. Why they even bother manufacturing the lousy one in the T49828 that I'm reviewing is beyond me - it makes them look incompetent and tarnishes the brand, IMHO.

So if you're shopping for a combo Timex, look very carefully at the pictures of the digital strip and make sure you get the one like the T41361 has, not the crappy one like the T49828.

I've only had the watch for a month. Purchased it for a nursing program (clinicals)in which I needed a watch that is water resistant, has a seconds hand, and pretty easy to read. This fit the bill at a relatively low price. I've always used digital watches so I get the added benefit of a digital display aside from the analog face. I haven't had it for that long, so I can't attest to the durability. We'll see.. but so far so good. Indiglo is a plus for viewing the time in dark settings. Here's a tip, if you hold the indiglo button down for a couple of seconds till it beeps, it changes the duration of how long the indiglo light stays on. This was a pleasant surprise because I was initially disappointed that the light stayed on for only a second by default. Now it's set for more like 3 to 4 seconds.

I have had mine for about 5 years. It is tough as nails, not to heavy, water, dust, dirt and mud proof. This is my second one. I had the first one about 8 years and took it to wal-mart to get the battery replaced and the women in the jewelry department used a HAMMER to put the back on it and cracked the glass. It still worked but was no longer water proof. Great watch at a good price. Battery lasts 3-5 years depending on brand. The Glass is durable as long as you don't use a hammer to put the back on.

I am rough on watches. I usually break them before the battery dies. This watch has lasted longer than any other I have owned. I am on my 3rd battery. The band is quite worn but it still works great. The crystal is very strong and resists scratches. I travel a lot. It has 2 time zones for the digital display. You can display either time zone or date as default. Also alarms for each zone. Time is very accurate. If it ever breaks, I would buy the exact same one again.

This was a great watch that I ultimately had to return.

Pros:
Looks great.
Very comfortable.
Easy to read display.
Excellent illumination at night.
Very sturdy feeling.

Cons:
The digital display might be a little small for those that have problems reading small things.
Ticks loudly...o.k., I will admit that I am very anal about things like this and it probably won't bother anybody other than me. But I work in a very quiet environment and I would find myself distracted by the ticking of the watch.

All in all, I liked it very much and I would buy it again if it wasn't for that.

It's a great looking watch that works great for day-to-day, casual usage. My only reservation is that this Timex watch isn't nearly as intuitive as my other. Setting the time/alarm/date, has proven to be problematic. That aside, I'm very happy with my purchase.

This Timex watch is excellent. I like the fact that it looks good enough for dress up, yet has the extras of the geeky watches. I had one like this before (only it was slightly smaller) and like it too. My only complaint is that the watch band, which has two strap control pieces, has the first one too close to the buckle, so that it is a bit difficult to use the buckle. Great price for a nice watch.

I bought this watch to replace a Timex that had broken after 2 1/2 years of service. This is a very attractive watch and looks better in person than on the computer screen. The watch is made of metal and has a leather strap. I have only had the watch a day so the strap is a little stiff, but should break in fine. The watch is also keeping time and is not running fast or slow so far.

I am pretty impressed that I was able to get such a nice watch for the price I paid. The watch is attractive and functional, yet it is not overly complicated to set. I feel this is a watch that could be worn to the office and will also look good when going out with my spouse.

Another thing that impressed me is that I ordered the watch on Thursday around 11:00 A.M. and the watch was at my house on Friday around 1:00 P.M. I am an Amazon prime member and for some reason Amazon flew it next day air. Thanks Amazon!
