Customer Reviews

The heart rate monitor feature was quirky.
Roger Sangerloo
This watch was difficult to set up because the buttons were very unresponsive to inputs, and it didn't come with directions for setting the time.
Bill Storm
I usually could not get it to give my heart rate when sitting still.

I thought this was just what I wanted and for the most part it is. (I did not buy this at amazon.com but from a national sporting goods chain.) I would love this watch except for the fact that I became very aggravated when I went to set-up the watch only to find that are not any directions on how to set the time. Now an internet search - of course, there is not any information on this model so trial and error. I did get the time set and the watch does work as promised -the heart rate monitor is quick and correct.

I wanted a watch that was a Heart Rate Monitor (HRM) in and out of the pool as well as a stopwatch for my swimming and running workouts. It also had to be waterproof and if it could estimate the distance I traveled while running and swimming, then that would be a bonus. My budget was $50.
I read numerous reviews of HRMs, swimming and running watches. I also asked a number of friends who use running watches and HRMs for their advice. I bought this watch and I am satisfied, maybe even thrilled with my purchase especially within my budget thanks to Amazon.
To measure my heart rate, I wear the watch on my left wrist and I set my right index finger on the silver ring on the watch for about 5-10 seconds. The HRM works about 90% of the time on the first touch.
The HRM works in the pool, but only if my chest and both arms and the watch are out of the water, so standing at the shallow end it worked reproducibly. When I swam on my back and had the watch out of the water the HRM did not work at all. The watch recorded my swim with the step counter, but I presume it counted strokes instead of steps.
The watch worked well during my run also. It had good early HRM readings and it recorded my steps. It had issues detecting me touching it when my hands were really cold and had poor circulation. Then I warmed them up and I was able to get a good HRM reading right at the end of my run.
I have found that in most regular life situations the watch and the HRM work well. However I have found a few times when the HRM in the watch did not work: It did not work when I had soap or lotion on my hands. The HRM did not work when I was submerged in water and it did not work when my hands had poor circulation from running without gloves.

Recently, I had the opportunity to purchase a Timex Health Touch Plus Watch. Ordiniarily I pass up the opportunity to discuss my purchases, however, I made an excption for this watch. It was purchased primiarily to assist me in losing weight by knowing the number of steps and miles walked on a regular day. The watch also has a hear monitor and will count calories burned with a number of other features. It is a total work out watch for anyone wanting to keep up with their information.
I have no reservations in recommendiating this watch and the $5, 5 year extended warranty.

I bought this watch for my husband who needs to check his HR multiple times a day due to a heart condition. It is nice that this watch does not require a chest band and can be used as a watch/HR monitor all in one. The only issues is that sometimes it will not read the HR, so you have to try multiple times. Also, when my husband sleeps with it on, it will make beeping sounds in the middle of the night because the senor has been touched, which is the silver ring around the face of the watch. Overall, good purchase for the price.

Seemes to be accurate in every function. I have tested the pedometer and distance measuring against a gps based app on my phone as well as a garmin Gps. Heart rate was correct when tested against the blood pressure cuff I use. The watch is not large in my opinion. Even though I have all the beeping turned off, the watch will give two error beeps when it touches certain clothing or I am very sweaty and it thinks I am asking for it to read a Heart Rate.

So far it does a fair job. But when I its to wet from sweat, it stops measuring my heartrate. I have to rinse it with water, and dry it well, and then it starts working again.

I find the watch useful, especially since I suffer from AFIB, and it's main use is to monitor heart rate during such episodes. Only issue I have is that if it rains, or it's particularly humid the watch, without using your index finger, beeps as if it's trying to get a reading. Particulary annoying if there is sweat between you and the watch, and you are in a quiet location.

I wanted a simple to use, non-strap hrm and I was so excited about the TouchPlus, however it is more than I wanted. It is really complicated for me, who just wanted a monitor and time piece with no strap.
So, if you want simple, don't get this one, it is crazy!
Still looking for a simple to use, non-strap hrm.
