When you search for a very long time to find a watch that actually is setup perfectly and then luck would have it you are video-shopping (window shoping on amazon) and see the perfect watch...

...then you order it knowing it just can not live up to your expectations.

I was wrong!!!

I have found absolutely nothing I do not like about this watch. It is easy to setup/encode/set/reset/learn. The face of the watch is quite large making it easy to read under stressful situations and when you just "have to know the time or date NOW." The "FLIX" system I have not used much (because I can hit a button, ok) but it seems very easy to use (simply hold down the "indigo light" button: upper right hand button) until the watch beeps, FLIX is then "enabled." You cut it off the same way. When it is "on" you simply turn your wrist with a fast "stopping action" (as if you were checking your watch fast) and the light will auto-on for a brief time.

The crono setting and lap settings are the easiest to navigate and figure out ever. The buttons actually have "labels" which show up next to them. It has never been easier to learn a fairly complex watch. For the runners among us this watch has 100 lap memory, can remember your best times, do a countdown to crono function, and it even tracks your "best lap" if you do it in series (like you simply start the crono, and hit the big black button on the front for each lap). Then at the "end" of the race you hit stop and can "save" your results and then know your best time.

I love it. It is a large watch but who cares as it is light. The strap is not cloth, something I really like as I would never wear a cloth strap and it has a nice TAB IN HOLE locking feature on the belt that I like as well (all rubber). I can not say enough about how pleased I am with this purchase.

Last but most important: Almost all watches I have seen put the date in the upper right hand corner. This makes most dates unreadable ESPECIALLY at night. Is that a 7 or a 1? Is it the 1st of the month or 7th? I am terrible with remembering the date and to put the DAY and DATE in the lower display location was utter and total genius. If you were the designer of this watch face I owe you a beer and will gladdly buy you one. The setup is perfect for those that have a hard time reading "normal" digital watch displays.

FIVE OUT OF FIVE EASY. I would give it higher if I could. Timex has a winner here folks and if you look someplace else you will either not get the cool FLIX system, not get the 100 lap memory, not get the easy to read day/date display or get some crappy cloth band. Take my word for it, if functionality, easy-to-use, and value are the things that get you to purchase something, this is the watch for you. (Oh, and it just so happens that blue is my fav color so win win for me.)

I looked and looked and looked for a new watch when my last Timex saw it's last days. I decided on this one, even went to the store to put my hands on it since no one could touch amazon.com's price. Firstly I must say that I love this watch! Fr the many reasons already listed. But this is now my second one of this watch, both have ended up having problems with the buttons not operating any more. This defect is beginning to upset and frustrate me. Just out of the blue, none of the buttons work. I can't even shut off my alarm which goes off at 7:38 and 7:43 each morning. So all I can do is tell what time it is. It's going back to Timex.

I really like the earth tone satin blue bezel color over the other model with the yellow highlights. The rubber (non velcro) band is the way to go. The wrist band hoop has a very nice "locking" feature - a small protrusion that holds it at the end of the strap. The watch has more features than I can list. Two easy to access time zones, multiple alarms, and a countdown timer are some of the noteworthy ones. It arrived in great shape. I'm extremely satisfied.

Bought watch to use in workouts at club and it is better than I had hoped for -- large numbers make it easy to read and functions are easy to use as well. Concerned about strap at first but it fits nicely and is comfortable if not fastened too tightly. All in all, a great bargain at the price and I'm delighted with the product -- looks great too.

This is my third Ironman Flix 100 lap beauty (lost one, got a spare) and all I can say is if you like having 4 different set alarms a week to keep up with your schedule, a display that's easy to read with the day of the week and date, a great countdown timer (to keep track of the your blinds at your Thursday night poker), along with a lap counter with 100 lap memory and hands free Indiglo for nighttime running, then you have found it all in this wonderfully affordable and reliable watch.

I've used Ironman watches for years and they've been reliable and a good value. But this watch is by far the best Ironman I've ever had. I'm 62 years old and I need a watch I can see without reading glasses but with goggles on when I'm swimming laps. The readout on this watch is really big and easy to read. (The watch itself is also really big, so if you have dainty wrists it may not be for you.)

The user interface has been completely redesigned and is much improved. A quick scan of the instructions and you'll be able to use all of the functions intuitively.

The only downside to this watch is that the alarm is not as loud at the Timex Expedition analog I also own.

Bravo to Timex for significantly improving on an already great product.

Just bought this watch a few weeks back. Very nice and simple -- I selected it because my near eyesight is poor, and it has big numbers. But it's very easy to use (big improvements in user interface over earlier LCD watches I have owned). The FLIX feature is nice, although it takes a lot of motion to turn it on -- still good when you have only one hand free.

I've had this watch for about one month. Just what I was looking for. The memory feature is great to store and review my run times. The countdown repeat is my favorite and allows me to perform repetitive exercises. The flix works well but I haven't used it much. I was worried about the plastic band since I was accustomed to a strap but became used to it quickly.

I've had this watch for over a year and it has worked great. Two weeks ago I went bodysurfing in San Diego and noticed the display was fading. The next day it was dead. I opened it up and there were no signs of any sea water getting into it. I replaced the battery and now only the bottom half of the display is visible. What gives? So much for the Ironman status.

Timex has two types of Indiglo night light:

Good: Face lights up
Bad: Numbers Light Up

While both types are serviceable for viewing the time, the good type of indiglo works great as a night light, the bad type is useless for anything but seeing the time.

Unfortunately there is no way of telling which type of indiglo a watch has from the Timex specifications. I assumed that this watch would be brighter/better than my broken 30 Lap Ironman. Instead it is 10 times dimmer.

The implementation of the FLIX system is flawed in that to activate flix you need to hold down the night light button for 3 seconds. Idiotic. The flick of the wrist must be hard enough that accidentally triggering the night light is unlikely; reguiring a button press to activate a hands-free system negates any hands-free advantage. I've had 3 flix enabled Ironmans and never use the FLIX feature due to the activation requirements.

Finally the bands on my Ironman watches all break after a year or so.

I've worn these Timex watches since the release of the first Marathon, and am on my fifth or sixth timex. Because of the breaky band I would like to stop buying/using Timex, however I can not find a replacement watch with decent interval timers that has multiple weekend aware alarms.

Well the band held up nicely but after less then a year the battery died. I purchased and replaced the battery. I was very careful to make sure the rubber seal was positioned correctly but the watch still leaked after a dip in the pool. Now it's dead. A few weeks after it broke, I got another of the same watch as a gift.

I'd like to return it and be done with Timex. However, after an exhaustive search I can find nothing comparable. While the Timex Ironmans are not "built to last" nothing matches their ease of use and versatility. The multiple alarms are so useful to help me synchronize my day and I've come to rely on the interval timing as a keystone to my running regimen. Casio makes some nice rugged watches but none of the nice G-Shocks have a good interval timer. At one time Nike made some nice running/sport watches but it appears that Nike has given up on this market segment.

For now I'll keep the Ironman and hope that by the time this breaks (early next year?) there is a good alternative to Timex.
