5.0 out of 5 stars Great device!
I've had other heart rate monitors but have always had trouble with them which I attributed to my small frame. But this not only works beautifully, the GPS has added a whole new dimension to my training. It works great outdoors though admittedly did not get a signal on a run in the woods. In clear spaces on the road or on the water (I row) it works like a charm.

2.0 out of 5 stars Timex gps watch
For gps capabilities you must carry an extra accessory. This is not desirable when running long distances which is why the watch was purchased and promptly returned. Seller was excellent and very understanding.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just what I expected, November 8, 2007
This review is from: Timex Ironman T5G311 Midsize Bodylink System Heart Rate Monitor Watch (Sports)
The T5G311 is the 2 second Ironman BodyLink watch I have had. It is fills my need for data and gives me reasonably accurate running log. I have had days when it does not find the GPS system and end up having only my heartrate recorded. That is frustrating. However, for the most part for someone not training for major races or time trials that is a minor inconvenience. For the price it serves its purpose.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice watch but GPS is shaky, June 12, 2009

I bought this for my wife as she was training for a 10 mile run. I have had success with Iron Mans, plus it was a petite watch with powder blue accents - perfect for a woman, and not some big thing she'd have to wear on her wrist. Watch and heart rate monitor worked great, but the GPS function was shaky - it dropped out and did not register the distance correctly. I returned the product and the rep told me that this model has been out for a while. I am thinking there is newer technology, and I hope Timex comes out with an updated model.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice features, fairly easy to use, February 7, 2009
This review is from: Timex Ironman T5G311 Midsize Bodylink System Heart Rate Monitor Watch (Sports)
This monitor/watch is a fun tool to track heart rate and speed/distance. My only complaints are that it takes an excessive amount of time to link up to a GPS and the display is pretty small because there is so much information on it. Watch fits great and HR rate monitor is reliable but GPS technology needs some refining.

3.0 out of 5 stars Frustrated, June 6, 2009

I purchased this system to help with tracking my pacing and distance when training for the half marathon. But although the Bodylink system works well, there are a few problems with the watch design that if I had known I would not have purchased this item:

It takes too long to acquire the satellites.
It SHUTS down if I am inactive for 10 mins......this has happened to me several times when starting a race....So unless the race starts as soon as I acquire the satellite, I have to be running in circles to keep the watch functioning before it automatically shuts off. There is no way to disable this feature.

So although I love having the watch and checking my pacing, I am tired of the frustration I endure when ever I try to use it to compete in a race.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too Small, July 16, 2008

This review is from: Timex Ironman T5G311 Midsize Bodylink System Heart Rate Monitor Watch (Sports)
When I opened the package I realized that this is definitely a woman's watch. That's fine, because I got it for my wife, but I was hoping to use it too. Then, within the first 5 minutes of having it out of the package, the battery door on the GPS unit got stuck and I broke it trying to un-stick it. I managed to rig it to work.
When I took it outside to try to acquire the satellites, I found out that the light that shows if you have the satellites is not nearly bright enough to see in the sunlight.
The watch is not medium sized as advertised, but pretty darn small. That's fine, but the main screen for exercising has three lines of info on it. The numbers are so small, you really have to look at it, not just glance at it like I am used to doing with other HRMs.
Other than those issues, it did work well!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not water resistant watch :(, December 12, 2010

This review is from: Timex Ironman T5G311 Midsize Bodylink System Heart Rate Monitor Watch (Sports)
LIKES: Good small size for small ladies' wrists. Still easy enough to read the data on the screen. DISLIKES: Mine was not watertight and is now DEAD after a 400m swim. It is the third Timex watch that I've had problems with and I'm unlikely to buy one again because of the bad run I've had. This one was completely no good for swimming with - pretty disappointing, but probably out of warranty period now.
