I love having outdoor lights at Christmas but hate having to go outside before bed--when it's cold and frequently snowing--to unplug them. This year, I treated myself to this Timex timer, and I couldn't be happier with the results! Once plugged in, the timer turns the lights on automatically at dusk (which has been between 4:30 and 5 p.m. here in upstate New York) and keeps them on as long as you specify--4, 6, or 8 hours or even until dawn. Since we began using the timer, its performance has been perfect, and no more going out in the cold for me! Highly recommended!

I picked up 2 of these for my x-mas lights and they worked perfectly until we got a good rain... after that they stopped working until they dried out inside (about a week). If you are going to place it in an area that gets wet then you may want to consider one of the other timers with a water-tight case.

Awesome for having christmas tree lights go out automatically. I think the max time is two hours. Still working and I purchased it over 3 years ago.
