Terrific Value, November 11, 2009
This review is from: Timex T045B Radio Controlled Atomic Alarm Clock (Black) (Electronics)
This alarm clock performs all of the same functions as clocks costing literally five times as much. There are only two things I'd change: 1) I'd like to have at least some glimmer of a light to make it easier to locate in the dark; and, 2) I'd put the snooze button on top of the clock instead of on the back.

This is a DESKTOP (not a wall-mount) clock., December 5, 2009
This review is from: Timex T045B Radio Controlled Atomic Alarm Clock (Black) (Electronics)
The product box says, "Atomic DESKTOP Alarm Clock." And it's a very pleasing desktop clock indeed. Just be aware that its "fat" (deep) configuration (which the photo doesn't reveal) precludes mounting it on a wall. Moreover, there are no wall-mounting holes or bracket. As long as you're fine with all that, you should very much like this product, which (after I inserted two AA batteries) fairly quickly automatically set itself via the "atomic signal" emanating from Colorado. The LCD display's characters are gratifyingly dark (high-contrast) and very legible. It reports the room temperature quite accurately, too.

Excellent Atomic Clock, February 20, 2011
This review is from: Timex T045B Radio Controlled Atomic Alarm Clock (Black) (Electronics)
I am a fanatic about having the correct time. I own two atomic watches and this Timex T045B makes my third small, desktop atomic clock. The other two are a different brand. The T045B is the best of the three atomic clocks that I have.
The time display is large enough to see from 15 feet away in good light. The overall display includes the signal receiver symbol, the time with the seconds, the time zone illustrated by a U.S. map, the month and day, day of the week, and the indoor temperature.
The battery compartment is simple to open and close, and the two AA batteries slide easily into their places.
The receiver checks for the time each morning at 2 AM, 3 AM, 4 AM, and 5 AM. If it successfully receives the signal at 2 AM, it doesn't make the attempts after that. I have the T045B sitting on a coffee table in the middle of the living room, and so far it has gotten the signal every day. If the signal receiver symbol is seen in the upper left corner of the display, that means it got the signal.
It only has four control buttons on the front and you do need to refer to the instructions to use them. Fortunately, the instructions are complete and easy to understand.
Changing the time zone is easy. You just hold down the "up" button for two seconds and then it beeps and the time zone changes, as indicated by the U.S. map in the upper right corner of the display.
The thermometer feature is very accurate. When I checked it by placing all three of my atomic clocks side by side on the coffee table, they all stayed within one degree of each other.
The alarm is on the back near the lower edge of the clock. It has three settings: off, on, and snz. Placing it in the on position only turns the alarm on. The snooze function is also activated only when the setting is placed in the snz position. When the snooze is activated, the alarm will go off again after 5 minutes and it will work up to 8 times.
You can't see it in the picture, but the snooze/light button is on the back of the clock at the top and in the middle. It is fairly large, but having it there instead of right on top is somewhat inconvenient. It makes a noticeable click when you push it. The light is orange and stays on for 5 seconds after the button is pushed. It is bright enough for me.
Overall, this Timex T045B Atomic Clock is well worth the money and seems to be a much better value than the Lacrosse models which usually cost more.
When I decide to get another atomic clock, this will be the one that I buy.
