4.0 out of 5 stars A reasonable alternative for a Rolex Submariner
I would like to say first that Jomashop exceeded my expectations with the processing and shipping of this order. I will most definitely order from them again.
About the watch. I love the sleek classic look. If you hold it up next to a Rolex Submariner, it is nearly identical. I have a friend who has this exact watch (only in Rolex) and he's a little miffed that I...

2.0 out of 5 stars Worked fine for 5 months
I'm extremely tough on watches. The 2 watches I owned immediately prior to purchasing this one were an automatic Seiko that I wore every day for 2 years before a pin in the watch band broke and it fell onto a concrete drive way and shattered and then a Casio ecodrive watch which I also wore for about 2 years and I finally retired when the watchband on it broke. I loved...

About the watch. I love the sleek classic look. If you hold it up next to a Rolex Submariner, it is nearly identical. I have a friend who has this exact watch (only in Rolex) and he's a little miffed that I paid less than $40 for a very very simlar looking watch.
I don't mind not having a $5000 watch on my arm if my substitute feels and looks just as substantial. I would have given this watch 5 stars, but the band occasionally pulls my arm hair. I may look into replacing the band, but it's a minor inconvenience.
I highly recommend this if you don't want to pay thousands for a submariner or hundreds for other look alikes. I have always liked and gotten great things from Timex!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Watch, March 19, 2008

I like this watch. It looks like a Rolex Submariner. I think it is made in the USA because it has no label indicating it is made elsewhere. It is quartz so it is extremely accurate. It is easy to set. It is substantial, heavy stainless. It has Indiglo so you can read it when you wake up in the middle of the night. You press the crown and it lights up! I have loved indiglos for years. I used them for a flashlight sometimes. You can use the bezel which ratchets in one direction to time things. The finish on this watch is very nice. It has a glass crystal. Its true that there is no magnifier over the date. I adjusted the band using a thumbtack and a pair of needlenose. I watched a video on youtube to remove four links and it fits perfectly on my thin wrist. I bought it for 36 dollars and that is nearly thirty dollars off. I got it from Jomashop. I love this watch!

2.0 out of 5 stars Worked fine for 5 months, July 9, 2007
I'm extremely tough on watches. The 2 watches I owned immediately prior to purchasing this one were an automatic Seiko that I wore every day for 2 years before a pin in the watch band broke and it fell onto a concrete drive way and shattered and then a Casio ecodrive watch which I also wore for about 2 years and I finally retired when the watchband on it broke. I loved the Seiko automatic, but the Casio ecodrive scratched far too easily (both the band and the crystal) and by the time the band on it broke it looked like someone had drug it behind a car.

I bought this Timex because I liked the way it looked, the price was right (I paid $50), and Timex has a reputation for being dependable.

The good: The look is clearly based on a Rolex Submariner which is one of my favorite looking watches and I'll never be able to afford a real Rolex. This Timex still looks almost as good as it did when it was new after 5 months of constant wear- it's a lot more scratch resistant than my old Casio- it shows a few minor scratches on the band, but the crystal could pass for new. It was cheap. It kept good time when it was working.

The bad: The watch band wouldn't stay clasped very well- popping open at least a couple of times every day. It stopped working after only 5 months- not sure what's wrong with it, but it's not the battery.

If it hadn't broken after only 5 months, I'd probably give it 3 1/2 stars. After reading a lot of watch reviews, I just ordered a Invicta 8926 automatic as a replacement. The Invicta cost over twice the price of this Timex, but if I can get a couple of years use out of it, it will be well worth the extra money.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Faux-lex watch, May 27, 2009

I'm a sucker for stylish watches and to me, Timex was always the best for someone with limited finances looking for a good reliable watch that still had some style to it. I've owned 4 different Timex watches so far (they've taken a lickin' and they're still tickin') but this is the best. It has all the looks of a $5,000 Rolex Submariner for the cost of dinner at Hooters. It was easy to set, and it looks great! I've taken to calling this my "Fauxlex" ("Faux" as in fake Rolex) watch. It seems the only way to tell this apart from the real thing (well, other than the 5 grand you save) is that the date is not magnified like on a real one. And I doubt Rolex' have the great Indiglo light feature Timex is famous for. What else can I say, wearing this watch I feel like all I need now is the silver Mercedes SLK convertible with Blake Lively from "Gossip Girl" as my passenger as we head off to dinner in the Hamptons! But until that happens, I'll settle for Taco Bell with my wife.

3.0 out of 5 stars Timex Rolex clone, December 17, 2008
This review is from: Timex Men's T29781 Classic Coin-Edged Bezel Silver-Tone Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch (Watch)
A good looking watch from six feet away and although it resembles the Rolex Submariner the difference is obvious the second you pick it up.

It is what it is and it keeps accurate time. I will wear it places where I don't care if something happens to my watch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the money - Looks like a submariner, December 11, 2009
By
This review is from: Timex Men's T29781 Classic Coin-Edged Bezel Silver-Tone Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch (Watch)
I bought this watch at Walmart two years ago for Christmas - actually I bought 2 of them because they seemed like a great deal. I have not worn the second watch yet. I bought the mail in Timex 2 or 3 year extra warranty for $5 dollars. It is a great watch for the money. The indiglo light only worked for about a year. You can't beat these Timex watches for quality for the money. I have worn Seiko divers watches for 20 years, but there is no need to pay $200 when you can get as good a quality watch for $50 dollars. The idea that I can wear an American watch is great. maybe I am helping put some American's to work. For looks and quality I rate this watch equal to my Seiko diver watch. Having said that I wore each the Seiko for 5 years until they got so beaten up they were too ugly for a daily watch. I have only had this Timex watch for two years. The band pops open and the sides have to be pressed in to keep it tight. Same thing happened to other diver watches I have had. I like the rubber band better, but the Stainless Steel looks better. This is a great watch for $50.00. They still sell these on Amazon, but you can't find them many places anymore. Not sure why. I do not wear this watch for diving. I wear this as my daily watch. I bought a yellow face Timex as my dive watch.
Other watches I like along these lines
Bulova Marine Star - very nice watch
Fortis B-42 GMT (black band - white face) - my favorite watch
Seiko dive watch - solid value
Rolex submariner - a great reward for a job well done

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Value, Handsome Watch, January 12, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Timex Men's T29781 Classic Coin-Edged Bezel Silver-Tone Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch (Watch)
Having always been a fan of the "Submariner" style, this watch is a excellent representation of the original. It's lighter and the band isn't polished but overall it's a handsome watch that has worked perfectly for me. If you want a Rolex get one. If you want a handsome watch that looks very similar for one percent of the cost this is a good alternative.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Watch for the Price!!, December 26, 2008

This review is from: Timex Men's T29781 Classic Coin-Edged Bezel Silver-Tone Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch (Watch)
Some rate this watch low simply because it looks like a similar Rolex model....but isn't!! Sorry , its a Timex and its a great watch for the price (I paid about $40). Mine keeps excellent time and looks great!. The indiglo feature also works fine! I've had no problem with the band either. I would not hesitate to recommend this watch to anyone...especially at the price it going for!!!!
