5.0 out of 5 stars Field Watch
When you're not in the mood for the bling of the techno-plastic digital watch, which mascarades as a heartrate monitor, PDA, cell phone, egg beater, this old reliable takes care of business and looks pretty snappy too.

3.0 out of 5 stars Goood for what it is
This is an inexpensive, but quite decent watch. What do you expect for $30? My only reservation is that the strap is not the ample. I am large boned and have thick wrists, and it barely fits. It may stretch a bit over time, but if it was just a little longer, it would accommodate a lot more people. The lighted dial function is nice. And of course, because it's quartz, it...

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent basic watch., April 24, 2008
This review is from: Timex Men's T40051 Metal Field Expedition Classic Analog Watch (Watch)
Looks as sharp and functions as well as another "Field Watch" that I paid over $100 for. My other watch didn't have the Indiglo feature and required a special jeweler's tool a to change the battery. I can change the battery on this one myself. A good watch at a good price.

Update July 2, 2009 to my April '08 review. Has taken a lickin' and still keeps tickin' John Cameron Swayze has been proven right. I highly recommend this watch.

Cool looking watch which keeps time quite well. I check it periodically against the US Naval official time and it does not lose any appreciable time.
Some reviewers have noted the band to be somewhat stiff and thick; it does seem this way at first, but after repeated wear the band conforms nicely to your wrist. It appears quite durable as well.

The date box is easy to read on this model; not so with some of the other expeditions. Any yes, you do need to reset the date after months with less than 31 days; I use this as an opportunity to check and reset the time as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Their slogan is true., November 17, 2008

My first Timex Expedition watch lasted over 15 years and definitely took a lickin' and kept on tickin'. It's great outdoors for hiking or skiing. I like the backlight to see the time at night or during a boring movie. If all you need is a basic durable watch this is perfect. I was happy to find a new one at a great price from Amazon.

I have owned several timex watches the last 40 years and find them to be an excellent watch for the money. The Expedition I just purchased follows in the same manner. Would I purchase this watch again? Absolutely!

I ordered this for my firefighter husband who needed a watch that could take a bit of a beating but didn't have too many features to be useful. The indiglo display against the green watch face makes if easy to read in the dark. It's simple styling is perfect for a "working" watch. The price sealed the decision and past experience with similar Timex watches tells me it will last for a long time despite hard wear.

5.0 out of 5 stars an excellent watch!!, May 19, 2009

I have owned my Expedition for over 3 years. Took it in for a new band this past week-end where I purchased it (major dept store chain) and I was surprised Timex still has this same watch! Store clerks told me this line is a big seller. I must say I have owned several much pricier watches, but this one is my favorite by far - keeps excellent time (loses less than 3 seconds a month) and is very durable. Would buy again and recommend with no reservation at all. Cannot beat the price given the quality and craftsmanship

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple classic watch, November 11, 2008
This review is from: Timex Men's T40051 Metal Field Expedition Classic Analog Watch (Watch)
This is a straight up timepiece. The face is easy to read. The style really stands out when you're dressed up a bit: classic shape, masculine and rugged for a contrast. I think it looks a lot hotter than some of the bling I see shaking on metrosexuals' wrists.

5.0 out of 5 stars may be better than seiko, August 31, 2008

I bought this watch when my seiko eco watch was sent out for repair. Arrived 4 days after ordering. Comfortable and looks sharp. It takes about 2 weeks to break in the band.I have had it about a month now. I think it is going to replace my seiko as a daily wear watch.
p.s. Have now had watch about 3 months. No complaints.
