Beautiful watch!,
This watch is beautiful! The picture does not do it justice. It is easy to set up...by following the directions contained in the booklet, which is an easy read. This watch is accurate, user friendly, and appealing to the eye. I need to add that the Indiglo lights up the black face very well, making it easy to tell the time. In fact, you can see all of the dials, which is incredible. This was the one concern that I had and it kept me from buying this watch originally. I was pleasantly surprised to see how well the face was lit. This watch is a steal at this price!
Thank you Grady for your review...it helped sell me on this watch.

Stylish, Sturdy & Functional At a Great Price...,

To be honest, I am not a watch person. I stopped wearing watches as an adult since it seemed in my suit-and tie world the watch always caught on my sleeve cuff all day long. Plus, in this digital age there are clocks everywhere. Recently I have purchased a couple of ultra-thin dress watches for business.
However, I seemed to have a need for a casual "sport-type" watch and this Timex Expedition fit the bill. I'm not a watch snob and the Timex name and quality is fine by me. The watch is very sturdy and keeps excellent time as one would expect with any watch. To my eye, the black on black of this model is very appealing. This is a great looking watch. In making this purchase I decided that I would try a chronograph because there have been a few occasions where I thought it would be handy to have this ability. I used it once already for that function and it was great to have the chrono dials. Plus, what the heck, they look cool. The Indiglo night light function and alarm settings are a nice plus. All in all, a really nice looking functional watch at a great price. One caveat however...and it has to do with my earlier comment about the sleeve cuff issue. Forget wearing this rather thick watch with a dress shirt. I even have problems with casual button up shirts with sleeves and cuff buttons. I am sitting here writing this with the buttons on my sleeve cuff unbuttoned. When buttoned first, even at the "loose" button, I cannot get the shirt over the watch. If I button the cuff after I put the watch on I can't get the cuff over the watch to see the time! I guess this watch, or those similar in thickness, are only meant to wear with short-sleeve shirts or stretch buttonless shirts.

Timex T42351 - Great watch at a great price,
This review is from: Timex Men's T42351 Expedition Premium Collection Chronograph Watch (Watch)
I've had this watch a few weeks now, and I'm really happy with it. Its weight and look are great. I'm not really a big watch person, but this one definitely struck my eye. It's not your typical watch, and it took some figuring out, since the wrong instructions were sent to me, and I couldn't find the correct ones on the internet. Therefore, I'll post some basic instructions for those who might be in the same boat.
The first thing to realize is that the traditional long second hand isn't the primary time-of-day second hand. It functions only as the Chronograph second hand. The time-of-day second hand is the sub-dial at 6 o'clock. The sub-dial at 10 o'clock is the chronograph minute hand and the sub-dial at 2 o'clock is 1/10 second chronograph hand. The Crown(button at 3 o'clock) has 3 positions(4 if you include the indiglo); for the sake of explanation: normal, out-one, and out-two. What prevented me from figuring this watch out sooner was the fact that I thought I would break the crown off by pulling it to out-two, so much so that I was certain my watch didn't have 3 positions. It does in fact have 3 positions, though. That's one small complaint I have-it's kinda hard to pull it to the out-two position; it may just be my watch though. To start, you need to zero the chronograph dials. To reset the chronograph sub-dials to 0, first pull out Crown to out-one, repeatedly press the button at 8'O Clock to zero the Minutes Sub-dial. Pull the Crown again to out-two, press the button at 8'O Clock to set the 1/10-Second sub-dial. Press the crown all in from the normal position for indiglo. Crown at normal ---------------- 2 o'clock Button: Start/Stop for the Chronograph. 8 o'clock Button: Chronograph RESET. Crown at out-one ---------------- 2 o'clock Button: Nothing 8 o'clock Button: Advances the chronograph minute hand one minute at a time (for zeroing) Spin Crown: changes time-of-day hour hand only (awesome for time-zone and daylight savings) Crown at out-two ---------------- 2 o'clock Button: Advances chronograph second hand (for zeroing) 8 o'clock Button: Advances chronograph 1/10 second hand (for zeroing) Spin Crown: changes time-of-day minutes hand as well. Setting alarm ------------- Spin the dial/button at 4 o'clock. The red arrow corresponds to the minute and the gray corresponds to the hour you want your alarm to go off. Pull the dial out once you have the right time to set it. It should beep when you pull it out.

It looks great, and does everything that is advertised. Seems more "sturdy" then most timex watches. The only reason it loses a star, is that it is much thicker and heavier then I was expecting. Not timex's fault. I should have gone to a store and tired it on before buying.

Very pleased.,
Overall, a good value for a solid, attractive, multi-function watch.
Substantial feel but not too heavy. Leather band is comfortable and attractive. Can select to move only the hour hand and that's handy when crossing time zones or when setting the calendar date. Alarm works well and is easy to set. Wish the minute hand was a bit thicker; it sometimes take a half-second or so to discern it on the busy watch face. Would have preferred a rotating minute bezel rather than the fixed tachymeter bezel but not a big deal. Some have complained that the chronograph second hand doesn't reset to the 12:00 position. That's because they played with the buttons before reading all the instructions and accidentally pressed the time-set crown while the second hand was resetting (like I did). This is easily fixed by pressing the time-set crown just as the second hand crosses the 12 position (or whatever position you want the second hand to reset to).

I bought the Timex Expedition watch for $62.43 that was eligible for supersaver shipping and satisfied with the price.
I like the appearance of the watch..looks rugged and bold. The black face, ring and band is nice. The contrast is good...white against black. The Indiglo blue background light is good too, although it could be a tad brighter tho. It has a feature to keep the Indiglo light burning for three seconds after pushing the button if you desire, then turns off. The alarm feature works well, loud enough and is accurate. Setting the time, alarm and working the chronograph is relatively easy. My only real contention with the watch is the second hand. The main second hand shown in the images is not for actual passage of seconds, but for the chronograph. The ongoing seconds are constantly shown in the smaller face at the six o'clock position. By not having the larger second move in time with the 60 seconds, and gives the appearance of the watch being off, but in fact...it is keeping time. Sometimes I activate the chronograph to keep the minute in motion, but it turns off and resets after four hours. The chronograph ring does not turn as in other chronograph watches, but that doesn't bother me. The weight is solid and you know you are wearing a watch. I like that. But the face crystal is too flat and fingerprints and other smudges are easily deposited on the face, which requires constant wiping if you like a clean watch face. It will perform well in dark astronomical sessions I recommend the watch despite the drawbacks listed. Joe

great price for an awesome watch,

surprise to see this on Amazon again. I bought this 2 years ago and it disappeared from Timex website afterward. Thought they stopped making this model. My criteria for a watch after my Seiko, Longines, Tag are: see in the dark, have date, waterproof at least 300ft, and I found this. Chrono and alarm are bonus. Not too big nor too small. After 2 years, 2 dives at 70ft and the band still looks new. In movie theatre, Indiglo is awesome. I used the alarm function on my vacation trips to wakeup only me w/o waking up my wife. Another great feature is advance hour. It's great for quick adjust date (30/31), travel (time zones), and daylight saving. It doesn't move the minute arm. With this price I can buy new one every 3 years. Highly recommend if you like the look, very masculine. Wish they make it with matte black, or red dial, then I'll buy them all.

Nothing Better,
This review is from: Timex Men's T42351 Expedition Premium Collection Chronograph Watch (Watch)
Everything about this watch is awesome. I have never had a better watch... ever. Only complaint is that the loose perpendicular strip of leather that holds the band in place does not do its job very well. It slides up off the band and the band ends up hanging down. I haven't found a way to fix it yet, but I'm working on it. However, that is a small complaint compared to the awesomeness of this relatively inexpensive timepiece... Just look at it!!

THIS TIMEX CHRONOGRAPH WATCH IS (IN MY OPINION), ONE OF THE BEST FOR THE MONEY. I PURCHASED MY FIRST T42351 CHRONOGRAPH WATCH 18 MONTHS AGO AND IT HAS BEEN RUNNING GREAT EVER SINCE. I LIKED IT SO MUCH, THAT I DECIDED TO PURCHASE A SECOND "BACK-UP" WATCH FROM AMAZON AT A BARGAIN PRICE $12 LESS THAN WHAT I PAID FOR MY FIRST WATCH. JUST TAKE THAT FUNKY LEATHER WATCH BAND OFF AND TOSS IT; REPLACE WITH THE TIMEX FAST-WRAP, WATER-RESISTANT, 16-20MM BAND. GREAT WATCH/BAND COMBO. AGAIN, THIS IS A REALLY NICE CHRONOGRAPH WATCH, AT (IN MY OPINION) A GREAT PRICE. AMAZON DID ME GOOD W/THIS ONE.
