First of all, the product specifications listed on this page is wrong - there are no 24-hour military markings on this watch! If you're military personnel, it wouldn't be much of a problem anyway. You'd already be familiar with the 24 hour times.

I purchased this watch because I needed a (relatively) cheap little rough-and-tumble watch, for weekends or casual wear, or when the mood strikes me. Now that I am somewhat older, I have given up on Casio G-shocks. Now I prefer analog faces to a digital readout. For one thing, yes I'm old-school - I want to see a clock face when looking at the time and not have to visualise a clock-face when I look at digital readouts.

I have been poring through the various Timex Expedition watches, and found that the general consensus was that Timex Expedition watches are pretty darn tough (like a G-Shock). I finally decided that this watch would be great for me, and went out to a local store and bought it. I tend to prefer dark watch faces with light markings. The contrast makes reading the time that much easier and faster.

One thing that may put people off this watch though - when it's all quiet in the room, you can actually hear the ticking sound from the watch! Yes, soft "tick tick tick" when you're lying in bed, even if the watch may be on the table about 2 metres away from you. However, it isn't really distracting or irritating. It is curious though, since all my other quartz watches are silent.

The luminous hands are good for a quick check of the time in a darkened location. However, the luminous paint on the hour and minute markings around the dial are so faint, they might as well not exist. This isn't too big of a problem, because if you so desire, you can easily press the crown in and the Indiglo night light feature will light the watch face up. Another weird quirk of this watch (or it may be just the watch that I have) is that the markings from 7 to 9 seem to be a little "off", about half a millimetre. The second hand doesn't point precisely to them. The other minute markings are spot-on. Just something you might want to know in case these kind of things get you.

Also, the date doesn't rollover "cleanly" at 12 midnight. At midnight, it's still showing part of the previous day's date, and part of the date of "today". It won't fully show "today's date" until about 12.15 or 12.30, when the majority of "today's date" finally rolls into view in the date window.

The crown tends to get pushed-in unintentionally very easily, hence activating the Indiglo (and thus running the battery down). There are a number of times I bent my wrist backwards to hold or support something, and the light would come on.

On the plus side, it's very light. It's so light that sometimes it felt like I wasn't wearing a watch at all, and had to look at my wrist to make sure that I was. I'm used to my heavier metal-strap watches, I guess.

The leather/nylon strap dries very quickly when wet. Plus, the 10-year battery life is neat. It's not shown here in the product description but it's mentioned elsewhere on other watch sites if you google for this model.

Unlike what a previous reviewer said about its accuracy, the one I own only loses about 3 to 4 seconds a MONTH, and not a couple of minutes in 3 weeks. It's a quartz watch, it shouldn't be that inaccurate.

All in all, I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

I've owned many watches,and 5 of these (44082),most met bad ends getting hit on things while working , this 44082 takes alot befor giving up , unfortunitly getting harder to find as years go on , excelent watch for the money

Good price. Runs perfectly. Very clear display. Black face. Comfortable strap. Large white hands with small red sweep second hand. Most watches are hard to read unless you stare at them. I wanted one that I could glance at for a tenth of a second and see the time. (Say while driving at 60 MPH) This one is perfect.

I gave this as a gift to my husband and he really likes the look. Casual and appropriate for our retired lifestyle. I'd recommend it!

I have had this same type of watch for years now. This Timex holds up very well through many strange travels that my wife and I do through Siberia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan etc. It is strong, durable, cheap, and when you press the side button, it lights up to view the dial in the dark. I prefer analog by the way. When my present Expedition watch finally dies, I will still get another one.

Great watch, performs exactly as I expected. I've had it for about 10 months and no problems so far. I have another Indiglo watch with a white background that lights up more than this watch, which has a black background. But I can still see it fine so that's not really a problem.

UPDATED: Well, five months later, the silvery ring that surrounds the lens popped off. The little screws holding it on? There ARE no screws, just imitation screw heads. I glued it back on, no problem, but still ... fake screw heads? A bit deceptive. I'm changing my review from five stars to four. Otherwise, it's still an okay watch.

I've had this watch for years. I don't like small women's watches. I am allergic to metal, so this comfortable leather strap has been perfect. The watch is very reliable. I was glad to be able to find a replacement band on Amazon.

Not a bad little timepiece. Have owned this watch for 6 or 7 years, and unlike other reviews I have read, it has not lost much time. Mine is very accurate. Never even changed the battery. Good quality strap and very comfortable.
You will not even be aware that it's on your wrist it's that light. Just glance down and bingo, good looking Timex on your wrist. Yes, the tick is loud in a quiet room, but I like that, always have. Actually keep it on my tallboy just to hear the tick. But this may annoy other people. You'll have no worries scratching the face as it's recessed back just a little, unless of course you are careless.

Still, I highly recommend this timepiece

Watch has been solid for the past few months. Still looks great, keeps time, no regrets. Only minor criticism is the back light. It makes the face look translucent green, and is a little hard to see the numbers, but in certain situations, it's nice not to light up a dark room when you want to check the time in the dark. Other than that, I love it!

Great price for performance. If you're sick of replacing your plastic wristband's then consider this watch.
