5.0 out of 5 stars best watch i've ever had
I've had this watch for at least five years. I went through through several wristbands until I found the speed-wrap that I have now. I've never had to change the batteries. It's all scuffed up, but the scuffs wear off and the face is completely readable. Since it is a bit worn looking, I sometimes consider getting a new one, but can't make myself, at least until the...

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't wear in water.
Stopped working 2 days after purchasing and after submersing in a swimming pool for 5 minutes. Watch is dead now, my kid is sad. I'm out over $30. Good lesson for him though, don't believe advertising.

By A Customer
This watch is not only practical, but fun to wear. Its velcro strap makes it easy to remove and its gadgets make it the ideal tool to track your workouts in the gym. Handy indiglo light too. Best of all, it will take the abuse of your evry day busy life and keep on ticking! A great choice!

5.0 out of 5 stars Timex Expedition Digital Watch, December 15, 2006
This watch is the best value. It is easy to set the time, date & alarm. It shows different time zones. It has a light feature and hourly chime. The watch and band are very rugged. Great for every day use.

4.0 out of 5 stars Functional and Durable, March 9, 2010
This review is from: Timex Unisex T47852 Expedition Classic Digital Outdoor Performance Chrono Alarm Timer Watch (Watch)
I just purchased this watch for the second time. I had the first one for over 5 years and really liked it. It has plenty of features, some of which I never use, but everything you need out of a reasonably priced sports watch.
Pros:
The layout of the buttons is convenient and easy to use. I like that the side buttons are rounded plastic, rather than metal that pokes you or rough squares. They are soft to the touch and easy to push. The larger size of the indiglo button is nice, too. It is easy to find and push at night or in the dark.
I really like the overall size and look of the watch. I am a woman who prefers a functional sports watch, and it can be difficult to find one of quality that doesn't look like a clock on your wrist. This watch has a smaller face and a sturdy look, so it is perfect for a woman, or a man with smaller wrists.
I would consider this watch to be very durable for its price. I'm a bit wierd about how I wear my watch, as I like the face to be on the underside of my wrist. Wearing it this way causes the face to receive a lot more damage than it normally would, but this watch holds up pretty well. Mine takes hits and bangs and rubs on a lot of surfaces, but the first one managed to stay scratch-free for many years. After about 4 years some of the plastic broke off, but I attribute that to the way I wear it, rather than the durability of the watch.
Cons:
The indiglo started to go dull after about 3 years, which seems a bit soon. However, I know that this is probably due to the fact that because I wear the face on the underside of my wrist the indiglo button gets pressed inadvertently a lot more than it normally would.
The strap is cloth with a velcro closure. I know that some people actually prefer this feature, but I feel like it's kind of a rip-off. This is a decent watch, and it should come with a decent strap. After showering, swimming, or even washing your hands the cloth strap retains water for a long time which causes a slight rash on my wrist. After only 2 weeks of having this watch I replaced the strap with a standard Timex rubber one. It doesn't match, but it works much better for me. Replacing the strap is a bit of a hassle, though, because for some reason it is difficult to get the strap size to match up to the watch.
The readout started going dim after about 4 years, and since it's nearly impossible to find someone who will replace a battery in a digital watch I put up with it for about a year and then just bought a new one. This problem isn't specific to this watch though, it's just something annoying about using digital watches.
Overall this watch is a great value for the price. You will definitely get your money's worth, and it's about as good as you can get for a standard, department-store sports watch. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that I don't care for the strap that comes with it. Otherwise I'm very pleased and enjoying my second one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for my kids, April 26, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Timex Unisex T47852 Expedition Classic Digital Outdoor Performance Chrono Alarm Timer Watch (Watch)
My kids (ages 7 and 9) each have one of these, and love them. The velcro band is easy for them to take on and off, it's easy to use the stopwatch, which turns out to be great fun for kids to time all sorts of everyday things, and the watches have stood up to whatever little-boy rigors my kids have thrown at them. The size of these works well for their kids sized wrists.

5.0 out of 5 stars Small & simple, April 18, 2009
This review is from: Timex Unisex T47852 Expedition Classic Digital Outdoor Performance Chrono Alarm Timer Watch (Watch)
Best watch for those who need small and simple, but high quality watch. Notable features:
* Lightweight, soft and fast velcro wristband.
* Bright backlight activated by large button on the front
* Relatively small size
* Large digits
* Day of the week and date
* Intuitive interface - easy to adjust time even without the manual

There is a timer and alarm as well. I don't use these anyway.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Expedition is a whale of a watch, November 16, 2008

This review is from: Timex Unisex T47852 Expedition Classic Digital Outdoor Performance Chrono Alarm Timer Watch (Watch)
Because of health issues, it is necessary that I take medications at various times during the day. The Expedition Watch by Timex can be set for four different alarms and I can see the date, day and time at a glance even at night because it has a button to turn on the light so the watch can be read even in the darkest of places. The is the second Expedition I've purchased because I lost my first one. It's a great product and I recommend it highly.

i am a guy with thin wrist...
did not want anything bulky...
so, i opted for this unisex version...

like the look and functionality...
strap could have been an inch longer, though...

all in all, a good buy...

p.s.
if you are a big guy, this would not look good on you...

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect, March 28, 2010
This review is from: Timex Unisex T47852 Expedition Classic Digital Outdoor Performance Chrono Alarm Timer Watch (Watch)
This simple and inexpensive model is perfect. I am wearing them for 2 years and see no cons at all.
And pros are:
- Smaller and lighter than most other models
- Have reflective screen
- Have "intuitive interface" with tips - the only watch of this kind that could be easily adjusted without the manual.

I don't use stopwatch and other features anyway.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for a young boy., January 6, 2009

We needed a good first watch for our 8 year old and this fits the bill. The smaller diameter fits his wrist well but it is very masculine. He loves announcing the time.
