Timex Casual Diver watch,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Timex Men's T49776 Casual Diver Watch (Watch)
I decided to buy this watch despite a couple of mediocre reviews on it. The watch feels very sturdy and is easy to read, on the Timex website it says it has a screw down crown, but upon examining the crown (it floats) presumably to let the indiglo night light work. I tried screwing in the crown and it appears it is not a screw down crown. The watch only cost $40 but feels much more expensive than it is. I am giving it 4 stars because of the couple of negative reviews I read about it. I figure if the watch is a lemon I will not have lost much money at all. I'll keep this review updated the longer I have the watch, right now I'm just getting a feel for it and am still seeing how it performs. One of the things anyone should be conerned about this watch is when it is submerged the indiglo nightlight can easily be set off by the movement of the wrist. Timex says that pushing any buttons underwater could sacrifice the watches water resistance. I think this is what happened to the person who said their Timex diver failed after 5 dives. For diving definitely get a watch with a screw down crown as it is extra insurance from water flooding your watch.

Died after 5 Dives,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Timex Men's T49776 Casual Diver Watch (Watch)
Watch leaked after just 5 Dives. After the fifth dive I noticed condensation on the inside of watch face and the indiglo light stopped working. Watch is supposed to be water resistant to 100m. Didn't dive close to that depth. Returned it. Had a feeling it wasn't just a lemon and probably would happen again with and exchange. Going to shop for a more expensive dive watch which is what I should have done in the first place. Watch worked well at telling time, so if you don't plan to dive with it then it will probably be just fine.

Finally a Timex Watch With a REAL Rotating Bezel !!,

This review is from: Timex Men's T49776 Casual Diver Watch (Watch)
I'm not a scuba diver, so I didn't buy this watch for that. I wanted a nice looking watch with a rotating bezel so I could time various things, like when I barbecue meat on the grill, or go for walks, or numerous other reasons. I don't really need a stop watch, just a minute timer reminder.I recently bought two other Timex watches (from Amazon) that supposedly had rotating bezels, but neither would rotate... I returned them immediately to Amazon. The "rotating bezels" were just for "decoration" according to the Timex rep that I talked to on the phone. Too bad the Amazon sales blurb didn't say that! I also like the "Indiglo" lighting feature of this watch, which I have on another Timex Expedition Alarm watch that has been working great for about 8 years. I actually used the rotating alarm bezel for timing purposes. I wanted a little dressier of a watch, so I bought this Timex Expedition Diver watch, and also bought a replacement stainless steel metal bracelet band, and replaced the rubber strap band. I wanted a band that would last longer than the leather bands on my Timex alarm watch, which I replaced 3 times over the 8 years. If this watch was offered with a stainless steel clasp bracelet band, I would've given it 5 stars. It looks great, and much more expensive than it was ! I hope it lasts as long as my Timex Expedition alarm watch has !

Good Looking & Reliable...the Watch, Not Me,
By
This review is from: Timex Men's T49776 Casual Diver Watch (Watch)
Picked this up about 5 months ago, but since I had read some negative reviews I wanted to give it some time before chiming in with my two cents. I'm happy to say that the watch has performed flawlessly. I have made no effort to protect it and have used it in water while swimming, showering, playing with the kids at the water park, etc - all with no moisture problems. Has kept good time & served me well so far...The watch looks great (mine has the orange face) and strikes a nice balance between sporty casual and classy. Wouldn't be my go-to watch when I'm wearing a suit, but it can pull off just about anything else. It's not over-the-top big like some hipster watches but it is beefy - I'd describe it as masculine. It has a rotating bezel for keeping track of elapsed time, has a date function, and features Timex's Indiglo backlight. Some have complained about the backlight getting turned on accidentally when the wearer's wrist is bent back, and that has happened to me once or twice, but it turns off the moment the wrist pressure is removed so I don't see the big deal. My favorite feature is the band: the little collar that secures the extra part of the band once it's latched has a small notch in it that fits over a small nub on the end of the band. It keeps the collar secure in one spot and the end of the band never comes loose. With most of my other watches I periodically have to push the band holder back into place throughout the day, but this one has a clever design that eliminates that issue. Overall I'm very happy with this watch. Given the price I paid (about $28), I feel like I got my money's worth and then some: good looking, works well, good design = thumbs up!

Good entry level watch,

Bought this watch as an everyday watch that could take some abuse. Only thing that is less than ideal is the resin watchband is designed to secure within the clasp and this makes taking it off awkward. Good watch, look forward to years of use.

This watch is fine. The plastic watchstrap feels sort of rigid but secure. I wear it on my left hand i noticed that frecuently i touch the watch with my wrist turning on the light, that will probably consume the battery prematurely.

The watch came quickly as promised. It's a nice looking watch but definately not high end. The indiglo stopped working within 5 minutes. The crown isn't screw down so I'm not sure if this watch is very water resistant. If you want a cheap divers watch that may or may not be durable, this watch will fill the job.

Low cost, but not really a diving watch,

I bought this watch because the word diving was in the title. The idea was to have a totally worry free watch I could swim with. Once I received it and read the directions (yeah I know I'm weird) I found they didn't really intend this as a divers watch. Indeed without a screw down crown, they said not to touch the crown or press it for light while swimming. This isn't worry free for me, but it's very good looking and it's worked out ok so far for me as long as I'm careful not to touch the crown. No water leaks so far anyway. If the word "divers" weren't in the title I'd rate this 4 maybe even 5 stars. But with that in the title I have to downgrade the rating.

I've been wearing this watch for about a week and a half. I almost didn't buy it because even though I like the design I'd read some review that said the band was uncomfortable. Well maybe it used to be but the band on mine feels pretty much perfect and living in a hot climate (Austin, Texas) a bad band makes itself felt almost immediately. The watch is very good looking and the indiglo feature is great since I wear the watch to bed and sometimes look at the time in the middle of the night. For the price? A steal.

I have had this watch for about a month now. I usually never buy watches sight unseen, especially since I am very picky when it comes to how it looks on my wrist. I made an exception for this watch and am pleased with my decision. The watch, even though it may look a little cheap or feel that way (which is a characteristic, I find, of Timex), is pretty rugged and I have no complaints about its durability or time keeping ability. I like the date feature, which is something that I like to have on all of my watches. I bought this as a work or outside watch that I can get sweat on or go swimming in. I am in the sun for work everyday and sweat for hours, so no complaints about that. I have also went swimming at a local spring with it and found that it performed great. It terms of longevity, durability, and usefulness, this watch has exceeded what I bought it for. The only problem that I have is with the date feature. It is supposed to set between 10PM and 2 AM. It did at first, but now it sets between 6 and 8 AM. This isn't really that big of a deal, but it is a little distracting to see that date change at that hour, if I am up that early. I tried to get it to reset to the original change hours, but I can't seem to get it to work. If anyone knows how, please let me know. Overall, I am pleased with my Timex watch. It is pretty basic and exceeds what I ask of it. I plan on buying another Timex watch very soon, though the next one will be more of a dress watch. I would recommend this to others looking for a "cheap" diver's style watch. If you are looking for something that looks a lot more expensive than it is (like some of the Casio dive watches), look elsewhere. Adam Lippold |
