This is an excellent sport watch for the money. I got it for Christmas and was very pleased with the features, durability, low profile, and light weight. The strap is some kind of composite material and has a strap retainer feature. While quite comfortable, the strap has a habit of coming out of the strap retainer. Mine did frequently until it apparently fell off of my wrist while skiing on President's Day weekend. I'm still considering repurchasing this watch as a replacement.

Top watch for sports - sensational price,
This review is from: Timex Men's T53771 Ironman Triathlon 30-Lap Shock Resistant Watch (Watch)
I have this watch for 3 month now, and used it a lot in outdoor sports. The functions are simple and great, especially the lap timer, and 30 laps are more than enough! It approved itself in cross-country running, cycling as well as skiing, and I am sure its water resistancy is also great. The display is perfectly readably from every possible view angle, with and without light. The menues and fuctions are easy to use and self-explaining.This watch is relatively small and therefore does not disturb while exercising. After all this watch is great for outdoor people and athletes who only need basic function (eg. no heart frequency) for an amazingly low price. I like this watch better than several Casio's that I owned before.

I bought this watch because the last Timex ironman watch I had was worn out. I bought the last one nine years ago!!! These watches are great. I wore my first one on the flight line when I was in the Navy and I've worn my second one on the mean streets of Kansas City MO for nine years as a cop. If you're looking for a great watch that will be there when you need it.... buy this watch. As always, Amazon was great.

I like this watch. The night mode feature is helpful. As I've worn it, however, the strap comes out of the loop often, and it gets a bit irritating, I often have to slide the loop up closer to the latch to keep it from slipping out....Is that too much irritation for something that simply needs to sit on your wrist and not pop open, probably.OK.....nevermind, I change my mind and the rating on this watch (except I can't change the stars, otherwise I'd give it 2). Once I wore it a bit longer (really, just a bit...), all the paint started to wear off, and the strap thing got worse. It looks pretty bad now, and I haven't wore it much.

Great watch, but a little heavy and bulky, but still recommended,

The first time I wore this watch, I was actually training for a marathon, and the watch was quite heavier and bulkier than I expected. For the first 7 practice marathon runs, I actually got blisters and scraped from the watch, perhaps because I have a relatively small wrist. At first I got around this by wearing a rubber band under the watch to keep it from moving, but I actually got used to the watch and it no longer slides on my wrist, so it's fine now. I ran a marathon this past weekend with it, and the watch never bothered me for a second, so this is a great watch!

Among all the Ironman watches that had the features I wanted, this was the most reasonably priced at the time I purchased it.After a month of wear, I have had no problems. All the funtions work properly, as do the buttons. I have as yet to take it swimming, so I can't vouch for the water resistance just yet. The self-resetting timer function is great. When I lift, I do really slow reps--this device is great for maintaining that discipline--I just set it to beep every 10 seconds (or whatever), so my pacing is perfect. All in all, a good buy.

This is probably my fifth Timex sports watch and I have to say it is by far the best. The major issue with previous models was a band that seemed flimsy and buttons that did not hold up and eventually wore out. This is made for battle. The case is rugged and the band is thicker and stronger than the others. The buttons are protected and function easily. I don't have to press the buttons hard. From a software point of view, it operates like the previous versions, which makes it familiar very quickly. This watch is thicker than most watches and if you wear it with a button cuff shirt, it will annoy you if the cuff is too tight. I wear it mostly for workouts and weekend activities, so it really fits into my lifestyle well. This is definately a man's watch. I don't feel I have to baby it. The indiglo seems brighter than I recall. It's great when you are out at night and can't see your watch. It is very clear with large digits. I also like the fact that replacement bands are available in case of some unfortunate mishap.

Reliable gear, solid investment,

Pros:1. you can do pretty much anything with this watch and not feel sorry about it. Throw it on a concrete floor, knock it on steel, drop it in sand or hot water or use it as a hammer -- it keeps on working. OK, my Timex got a few scratches on the silver colored part and I wash it from time to time in soap to clean it after wearing 24x7, but that's it. 2. water resistance, shock resistance, timer, stopwatch, indiglo display 3. resin band. My previous Timex had a fast wrap band that wore off in a couple of years and then the watch got washed off by a big sea wave. A resin band won't have this problem. 4. unbeatable price there are probably many other brands of watches out there that will endure all kinds of wear and tear, but not for thirty bucks. You'll pay much more and then it becomes jewelry. You buy insurance for it, show it off, treat it nicely, dust it off, and leave it for your grandchildren. Cons: 1. you may hit on start/split button by accident when in chrono or timer mode because the button is so big. 2. "flick of the wrist" feature mentioned in the manual doesn't work. It worked once or twice, then stopped working. 3. some folks mentioned the problem with the band retainer or whatever it is called. Funny enough, I was able to fix it by simply rotating that thing so that the hole in it that should be on (fitting the jut on the band) is not at the bottom (and not seen). Takes 3 seconds to do. 4. I had to replace the battery approx. 3 months after buying the watch. (It's still water resistant though.)
