Timex DataLink PDA Sports Watch,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The watch is FANTASTIC ... I only wish it came in a less 'bulky' style. The watch is a bit large for anyone with a small wrist, it is obviously ment for an adult male. Timex should be less 'sexist', women like and need technology as much as men. However, the bulk should not deter anyone from getting this or a similar model IF it offers the functions they need/want.
I opted for this watch after trying the WatchMinder. I have Adult ADD and the ability to have 'reminders' with me at all times (without having to always carry an extra 'appenedage' ... PDA, cell phone, notebook, etc.) is a major plus for me. The WatchMinder, which is no less 'bulky' has some features that are not available on the Data Link, but it is also appreciably more complex to program, each 'reminder' has to be manually entered. With the Timex, information (appointments, daily 'reminders', etc.) are easily transfered from Outlook via a USB cable ... and you can either transfer the complete database or selected information. The entire process is extremely simple and user-friendly. I highly recommend this product, for anyone who needs/wants easy access to reminders for important events and activities ... or to their personal information database/calendar. As for the vendor ... no complaints there either. The entire transaction was completely satisfactory, I would definately recommend the vendor and would do business with them again. SPA

I needed a PDA to keep up with appointments and store my contact list, but didn't want to pay alot for it. This watch, for less than $60, reminds me of my appointments and stores all my contacts. What a Bargain! And to top it all off I don't have another box dangling from my belt. Thanks Timex. My only complaint is the cheap velcro wrist band that comes standard. Otherwise, this watch get 5 stars.

Nice Data Watch,

I am pleased with the ease of use and programming of the watch. A minor annoyance is having to use the watch stem to scroll through some of the screens. The biggest drawback is the watch band. When I first opened the watch, I thought they shipped me a female watch by mistake by the width of the band. I later found that Timex considers this a "unisex" band. The lack of Velcro surface will be a problem in the long run and the rubber keeper added by Timex to resolve this falls on the floor 80% of the time when I take my watch off. If I were to purchase again, I would purchase one of the models with the non-Velcro band. Will probably purchase one of those bands now to make my review 4 3/4 stars.

I have been really pleased with this watch so far. I have had it for 2 months now and for the cost, it does everything I need it to do. I purchased it mainly for the multiple alarm function that it has. Most of the other features, I do not use. Most other multi alarm watches cost over $100 so the cost of this watch is very affordable. I would recommend this watch.

Great little watch! Love all the apps you can find online for it. I found a great little golf scoring app that my hubby just loves.

I have owned a series of Timex data link products over the years and find this to be the best by far. The software is easy to use and the watch's features are terrific. Overall, I find it to be a very effective mobile PDA device.

I need a new one - they are so helpful,

I have owned 7 of the Timex database watches (the first couple were a joint project from Timex and Microsoft and data was transferred by flashing bars on a computer screen). After years of hard use it becomes hard to get the watch to connect to my computer - So I need a couple of new watches before my last one fails. They are a great reasonably priced tool for folks who don't want to carry a phone everywhere - all my phone numbers, appointments, my schedule, everyone's birthdays.... I hope Timex resumes production, or someone does, or someone has a supply of new ones.

Best geek weapon ever...but no longer made?,

This watch serves as my brain and now, my brain is no longer being produced. You can have up to 200 alarms that can be set for any day and time of the year, plus it can hold phone numbers and notes. There's a stopwatch, countdown timer, international time, INDIGLO display...you can even get an SDK for it and write PROGRAMS for it!
But for whatever reason, Timex seems to have stopped production of this ultimate geek pwning tool. I cannot find anything that has the ability to manage as many alarms, which is the main thing for me. I can find watches with cell phones, MP3 players, Flash memory, radio...but not the ability to set appointments for any time of the year. The closest I can find is a Fossil PDA watch that runs Palm. I'm a programmer, but I don't want to have to write apps if I don't have to... |
