Replacement Watch - A difficult Decision....,
By
This review is from: Timex Men's T5E261 Ironman 100-Lap FLIX System Watch (Watch)
I needed to replace another Timex Ironman 100 lap watch I had purchased a few years back (the rubber frame that holds the strap broke). Really liked this watch because of the large readout, ease of use, lap calculation. I'm a Marathoner and novice Triathlete, so a good, simple, versatile watch is an important piece of equipment for me. After looking for over a month, I decided to purchase the Timex Triathlon 100 Lap Flix System Watch, and I'm glad I did. Great readout, easy button control (start and split are much more pronounced - great improvement) and a very sturdy velcro strap makes this a winner for me. I've already used the timer function with alarm for my swim and bike intervals, and of course the chrono function with splits is easy to read and use. This is a great watch!

Gimme a break!,

This review is from: Timex Men's T5E261 Ironman 100-Lap FLIX System Watch (Watch)
Okay.... heres my take. Whah whah whah...the band is no good...the band is hard to put on...GIMME A BREAK! Hitting a hundred mile an hour fast ball is HARD...fastening this band, as long as you have 5 working fingers, is not as difficult as some reviewers would have you believe. The watch is fine....it works well, has an easy to read display, has easy to use functions. I dont run triathalons...Im a fat guy...so the timer functions are less important to me...but the big numbers make it easy to see as Im reaching for another doughnut and its great for timing how many chocolate chip cookies I can eat in 30 seconds. In all seriousness...this watch is cheap, functional and decent looking. Only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because I find it to be just a touch cheap looking but for the money you cant beat it.

Nice watch, but the strap???,
This review is from: Timex Men's T5E261 Ironman 100-Lap FLIX System Watch (Watch)
Like another reviewer said, the strap on this watch leads much to be desired. It is sewn to the watch, so presumably if the strap goes, the watch goes. And since I purchased it to use when I work out/excercise, I wonder how the cloth/velcro will react to sweat over time.Regarding the watch itself, I'm very pleased. The time is displayed VERY LARGE which is kind of comical...but it does the job. EDIT: After about a month of use, the paint is starting to chip/scrape off around the face. And the watch has seen no abuse at all.

Hard to beat for the serious athlete,

As a runner, the one major feature that drew me to this watch more than anything else is the size of the digital display. I want something that I can see at arms length rather than having to lift the watch up to my face. And this is the only watch I've been able to find that has a decent size digital display in the middle of the face rather than at the bottom, as in most digitals, where the day/date/month share equal billing. With the T5E261 the day/date/month are nicely proportioned at the bottom of the face. When I'm running headlong into wind and rain I want to see the chrono. The last thing I want to know is what day of the week it is...I've owned many Timex watches over the years, and have never had one break. They offer the most bang for buck and the best designs, IMHO. This is a reasonably priced sports watch that looks great and has more features than you could ever want including 5 alarms (daily, weekday, weekend, day of the week for each alarm setting), 100 hour chrono with lap/split, 100 lap memory recalls, countdown timer, multiple workout storage, 9 interval timers, one top pusher for lap/split recording, night mode feature (useful if you run during the dark winter nights), Indiglo night-light, nice black velcro fast strap and FLIX for hands free night light operation (though it does need quite a violent flick of the wrist to make it work, but maybe I've not got the hang of it yet) A great watch that I'm expecting to last many years through all weathers and many runs. Just one teeny disappointment was the colour of the face which appears white or light gray in the picture and looks cool, but is actually the usual pale green/grey. UPDATE: The above review is from Amazon.co.uk which I posted last August. The watch is still going strong - and the band still looks and feels good after soaking up months of perspiration - as it's fabric I just wash it in plain cold water when necessary.

Things I DO NOT like about this watch. The strap is velcro, which is a plus, but its not a simple strap you have to pull it thru a plastic connector to loop it around to strap it on. This connector is slightly smaller than the velcro and its a pain to get the watch on using one hand, also its a little on the small side but not too small. The timepiece itself is little on the large side than other timex pieces I've owned. The velcro strap is physically sewn into the timepiece, I hope it never breaks you cannot change this strap. The flix system requires you to shake it extensively, I found myself unable to do it comfortable so I wont do it at all. What i DO like about it. The display is extremely easy to read, even at night when you press the indigo. I was able to set this watch up completely the moment I opened it, no manual needed, even tho its included very simple to operate.

I love this watch. I've had several Timex Iron Man or Triathonlon watches and I like the fact that Timex keeps all of the controls and adjustments consistent. It's got five alarms that you can keep set all the time. No more changing the alarm for the next time. This is especially important to me inasmuch as I take medicine 4 times a day and I have a mind like a sieve. Makes things much easier than having to change alarm time several times during the day. It has the ability to set two separate time zones which is especially important for someone who travels alot

Best Rubber Watch, Ever...,
By Casp (Akron, OH USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Timex Men's T5E261 Ironman 100-Lap FLIX System Watch (Watch)
Alright, quickly now...I have worn rubber watches since the ground-breaking debut of the Casio J-50 Jogger/Pacer watch. Anyone who wears rubber watches knows this drill: wear them until the battery goes; attempt battery replacement; throw watch away and purchase new one (and take advantage of innovations transpiring in the meantime). This is, far and away, the best rubber utility watch I have purchased. The display is LARGE and has no equal that I could find. The numerous functions and mode features are easily accessible and thoughtfully placed. The construction is sturdy and designed for rigorous wear. The velcro band, vigorously pilloried elsewhere, is the most comfortable and most adjustable I have ever worn. This watch also ticked (seemingly timelessly for a single battery) w/o interruption for three years before... THE DREADED DEATH OF BATTERY LEADING TO OPEN SURGERY. Well, I did it! IT LIVES!!! I must say that it was a pain in the a** and requires several deep breaths to contain one's frustration. The band does, indeed, have to be removed and is secured by spring-loaded pins that can release the spring-loaded pin portion (to be lost forever in the carpet) quite easily. The battery replacement involves the usual, delicate procedure to emplace the new battery (CR25) typical of such watches, and the screw heads on the back enclosure are especially small. But, nevertheless, it can be done. Hopefully, I won't have to face this coming-of-age challenge again. I highly recommend this watch for any outdoor (or indoor, for that matter) enthusiast.

Just bought a second one after battery went dead after 2 years. Hand many, many Timex and Casio watches over the years and this one is my favorite with just the right combination of features: waterproof, multiple alarms, countdown timers with multiple intervals (great for interval training like run really fast for 3 minutes, slow down for 1), and easy switch between timezones with the alarms switching with you.And I really like the velcro band (even though I didn't think I would) - easy for small much more custom fit and it held up well with exercise - including a marathon. Sure, it's a tight fit through the whole, but that keeps it from slipping off as you loosen it. Indigo lighting is nice, but doesn't work so well at twilight - much better when it's really dark.

Timex Watch,
This review is from: Timex Men's T5E261 Ironman 100-Lap FLIX System Watch (Watch)
This watch is great. It works for everything I needed. It tells time great, and the stopwatch w/ the 100 lap memory is very helpful. It works for everything I do, and I am a very active person, so I needed something that could keep up, and this watch definately does.

Good Watch,
This review is from: Timex Men's T5E261 Ironman 100-Lap FLIX System Watch (Watch)
This is an excellent affordable sport/utility watch. Versatilt and durable. The cloth band with velcro fastener doesn't irritate the skin like other leather or rubber bands I've worn in the past. Even when sweating or wet, the band is comfortable. A good value.
