The watch I recieved was very similar to the one pictured but not 100% the same. It was dark blue/grey silver and black instead of the grey theme pictured. Also it was not the FLIX model pictured. It still provided all the features I wanted so I'm going to just keep it, but buyer beware.

Pros.

-Good fit
You can't get a better fit than velcro.

-Easy to read
Compared to other brand name digital watches (G-Shocks, etc...,) the digital display is much more vibrant and crisp; making it that much more easier to read. This is especially helpful during strenuous physical activity (I use it for running and I go to a military college.)

-Functionality
You could literally pick this watch up off the side of the road with no manual and figure out how to set the time, alarms, chrono, etc... It's so easy a caveman could do it ;D Another thing I really liked in terms of functionality was that the chronograph displays your total time AND your split time. This is great when you're running on a track and need to know your splits for each lap or mile of a race. And the fact that the numbers are so big means you can easily do this at a glance; unlike other watches where you may have to stop for a second to be able to read your time. Also, the buttons are exceptionally easy to press and that is a big plus especially for anyone on the go who can't take the time to fiddle with buttons that are hard to press (i.e. G-shocks.)

-Light
You can barely feel it on your wrist as opposed to bulky, obtrusive watches. (Again, great for runners and athletes.)

Cons.

-The strap is physically attached to the module on one side around a loop to hook up with the velcro on the other side. This isn't that big of a con but I was under the impression that the strap would go through two loops and I could replace this strap easily when I needed to. However, if the strap breaks, the plastic part it's attached to will probably break as well and you will need to replace the whole thing. This will also be true if the velcro wears out.

-Velcro strap gets smelly
If you wear it constantly without washing it, then yes of course it's going to get smelly, just like the clothes you wear. This is easily remedied by washing it with some dish soap or something. (And mine only got that smelly because I'm constantly sweating in it because I'm so active all the time.)

Conclusion.
If you're thinking about buying this watch I would definitely recommend it. It will serve you well for a long time. (I have had it for a few months now.) I'll edit this post when it finally kicks the bucket!

Looks even better than the picture. Watch band replacement only $8 at 800-448-4639. Fast shipping of watch from Amazon. EX-LARGE Face. The watch band is a wrap around with VELCRO fastener. The directions are easy to understand and it is amazing what this watch will do. I'm very happy. SO I purchased a second one. I could not find a cheaper place to buy one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good watch, July 7, 2009
This review is from: Timex Men's T5H421 Ironman 30-Lap Velcro Fast Wrap Watch (Watch)
I have owned 2 other ironman watches, both of which broke after various water events. This one is basically the exact same watch, but with a velcro band that is both lighter and feels better. And for 30$, and indiglo, and a good stop watch, what more can you ask for.

FYI don't water ski or wakeboard with this watch. It can handle swimming, but impact water events will ruin it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use and read, February 15, 2009
I love this watch. My wife bought it for me to use on my first Marathon. I found it very easy to use and easy to read on the go. I used to use the older Ironman watch with two buttons on the front and occasionally pushed the wrong one on the run. This watch eliminates that possibility. It is harder to screw up during the race or the run. Keep the instructions handy until you learn how to use it.

I really love this watch. It is very comfortable and small. Only downside is that the band tends to hold the sweat from a workout. It needs to be cleaned often. Otherwise it has a smell to it. I just use and old tooth brush and some liquid soap and just scrub it for a few minutes and rinse. This works well for me.
Lastly changing the battery is not something very easy to do. Definitley worth paying someone $10 to change the battery for you. Or for the cost, get another watch.

First, this is not a professional watch. If you are serious about training, a GPS watch/HRM (e.g. Garmin 305) is probably better for you. Not being a competitive runner, a cheap stopwatch was fine for me. Frankly, there aren't many alternatives out there. There are loads of variations of this watch. One feature I like is the velcro strap. It doesn't look that great, but it is very easy to get on and off, and it is comfortable even on a long run (with no chafing).

I have used this watch several times for measuring lap times when I do speedwork. The buttons are easy to press. The data it records is fairly limited, but it records your longest, shortest, average lap time, as well as total/split time. One feature I'd like to see, since I have a bad memory, would be a lap counter but this watch does not feature it.

EDIT: After using this watch a bit more, I noticed it does have a lap counter. Where the hundredths of a second are displayed, it fades in/out with the lap count. It is small text, but it definitely does the job.

Being able to time my laps has been handy, since I could see how much slower I was on later laps. Since then, I've been able to get to the point where I drop only about 2 seconds on laps (about 2:00 per 400m lap) between 0km and 10km. This is only possible by actually seeing the time. As you are approaching your distance marker, you may also see how your lap time is coming, and pick up the pace if you are falling behind. This is similar to how you achieve extra speed in a race, by using your competitors as a speed gauge and motivator. I have also used this watch for improving my bike speed. The lap distance doesn't matter, just find a distance marker (e.g. a tree) and ride/run a predetermined path. Measure the distance on [...](or another similar site) and you can find out your pace and compare it to your previous race results or that of others.

Once you figure out how to use the functions (which will take a few minutes of reading and experimenting), it is very easy to switch between the various modes of operation and get exercising. Some of the functions are not really useful, such as dual time zone. How many people need a runner's watch for Toronto and Paris? It is not like this is going to be your daily watch.

All in all, this watch is good value. I would recommend this to anyone who is training for a run or bike ride, and wants to get some immediate feedback on their lap speed.

5.0 out of 5 stars This can do things that more expensive watches can not., September 24, 2011

This review is from: Timex Men's T5H421 Ironman 30-Lap Velcro Fast Wrap Watch (Watch)
This is a very practical watch. I needed an alarm that could go off every 20 minutes with out having to reset it.... just beep every 20 minutes (or any programmable interval). This could do it, I could not find another watch that could for less than $300.

I am grateful for this watch, because that 20 minute reminder, was to help my mom shift her weight in her bed, when she was bed ridden, to avoid bed sores. It meant a lot to me to do this.

Now, my son uses it, as his sports/hiking watch... the watch has never failed us.

I was in search for a watch for my picky husband, he wanted it to be big enough not to look like a ladies watch but not to huge considering he has smaller wrists "PERFECT" the velcro band is great for a work watch which is what it was for.. very pleased with this watch and the purchase price! :-)

This is a very good solid watch. Good basic controls and features. Only downside is the funky strap attachment point to the body. It is difficult to find a replacement strap. Also, the watch is a sport watch. There are many materials today that resist smell much better than this strap. After 2 months, even with cleaning, the strap needs replacement due to sweat smell.
