I don't know how they do it…
on February 28, 2014
…but Timex has the one-year warranty thing down pat. The bottom attachment piece on the watch broke loose from the strap two days ago, February 26. I had ordered this watch February 9th of last year. I get about a year of wear out of a 1440, no matter what the model. Essentially, I rent a watch for about $1.25 a month. Not a bad deal. I like the 1440; it does what I need it to do and a bit more, but I have to rate this model a bit lower.
I'm ordering a resin-strap one again, even though I like the nylon wraparound. The way the watch is attached to the band makes it stick up higher than it ought to, and it gets caught on things that I fiddle with on a regular basis. The resultant stress on the elastic that holds the watch body to the band causes it to lengthen and it gets caught on stuff more often. I was going to stitch the elastic down tighter, but the anchor broke before I could get around to it. That's why the three stars; otherwise, I like this watch a lot.
If Timex were to make this watch ride lower on the band so it doesn't get snagged on stuff, I'd buy another Fast Wrap model in a heartbeat.
