Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

With its stylish sheen and translucent CD door, the Timex T609S is one cool looking CD clock radio. And, thanks to its stereo 2.5-inch speakers, onboard nature sounds, and external audio input, the unit sounds great, too. Now you can fall asleep or wake to your choice of a favorite radio station, a favorite CD track, or any of the unit's 4 nature sounds: ocean surf, rushing brook, forest birds, and wind chimes. Its dual alarms function completely independently, so both can be set for radio, nature sounds, etc. Like to snooze? Then you'll love the clock's user-adjustable snooze mode, which lets you keep sleeping for anywhere from 6 minutes to a full hour (careful there) per whack, in 6-minute increments.

Perfect for a portable MP3 player or cassette player, the T609S's auxiliary input can be used in conjunction with the unit's programmable sleep mode (15 to 90 minutes), along with the radio and nature sounds. If you play a CD at bedtime, the unit will stop when the CD is finished. CD playback modes include repeat play, random play, and 20-track program play. A headphone jack affords private or late-night listening without disturbing others.

And, just to make sure you never miss an important appointment (if only some quality time with your shower or morning coffee), the clock also comes with Timex's Sure Alarm battery backup. Just install 2 AA batteries (not included) to activate this feature. In the event of a power failure--or if you disconnect the AC power cord to move the clock--Sure Alarm will maintain your clock and alarm settings for the life of the batteries, ensuring that the alarms will sound at the appointed time (while operating on battery power, the alarms will sound only as buzzer).

What's in the Box
Clock, FM wire antenna, a stereo analog audio interconnect (minijack to minijack), and a user's manual with warranty information.

2.0 out of 5 stars details, September 15, 2006
This review is from: Timex T609S Dual-Alarm CD Clock Radio with MP3 Audio Input (Silver) (Electronics)
Just to clarify a few details for those picky consumers like myself...

1) Alarm 1 can only be used for CD, alarm 2 for radio. This is a disappointment as I like to set both alarms to CD for my two different wake up calls during the week.

2) The CD alarm will only play track 1. Again, disappointment.

3) No gentle wake and the volume of the radio when you last use it is the volume it wakes at.

4) The controls to set the clock and alarms only go in one direction so if you accidentally pass the number, you have to scroll through all am and pm numbers again to get back to the passed number. A small detail, but one I find annoying!

5) The unit is rather large and bulky and takes up ALOT of space. This is not ideal for those living in a tiny NYC apt.

6) The nature sounds are VERY noisy. The chimes I can tolerate but the the other three are not very calming. Plus this length of the loop is not very long so it quickly feels more like a ridiculously ornate metronome.

These are all details that I wish had been noted in the description for I would not have bought this expensive model (I stupidly paid more at a Barnes and Noble that what Amazon is offering). Needless to say, I am returning it.

Hope that clarifies a few things. Good luck!

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor LCD display on this clock makes it not worth buying., April 24, 2006

I really like all the functions available on this clock. The one complaint I have is the LCD display.

First, the LCD backlight makes it way too bright for nighttime use--even at the dimmer setting. It's like having a small, fully lit computer screen in your bedroom at night.

Second, in order to read the display, your eyes have to be level with it. This is true regardless of whether it's day or night. Putting this clock at a height above your head makes it impossible to read from the bed.

The newer Timex model (T617) has a much better display.

CD player stopped working after a couple of weeks of use. After 5 months of use the clock was running 3 minutes fast and when I tried to change the time it did not allowed me to do it. This item is a piece of garbage.
