A nicely designed CD-radio alarm clock!,
By
This review is from: Timex T612s Auto Set Dual Alarm Clock Radio (Electronics)
I was looking for a stylish CD-radio alarm clock and this new Timex model fit the bill. Unlike most alarm clocks today that look like spaceships designed by rappers, this clock is sophisticated in appearance with an appealing orange colored light that illuminates the time and date, and beyond the sturdy plastic shell contains actual brushed stainless steel as part of its design adding to its 21st century aesthetics without looking cheap. The clock is also compact and easily fits on your night table without looking cumbersome. The sound quality is more than adequate, but don't expect Boise speaker quality, just smooth and precise enough to leisurely listen to in your bedroom while getting ready for work; the CD player works equally as well, although the nature sounds I find useless (although our 17 month old daughter Julia enjoys the sounds of the beach and birds). All in all, it's a keeper.

I LOVE THIS CLOCK!,

This review is from: Timex T612s Auto Set Dual Alarm Clock Radio (Electronics)
I have never been "attached" to a clock radio before. This is a GREAT purchase. It has one of my favorite features EVER on a clock and that is the ability to turn the display light intensity down and even OFF. For those of us sensitive to light while sleeping it is a godsend. Plus the additional features of MP3 playback, CDs and white noise. It is wonderful. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a new clock radio alarm.

Description is not accurate, no pre-set digital tuning.,

The description says there is "pre-set digital tuning". This is false. It has analog tuning with a thumb wheel. You will have to remember the numbers of all your radio stations and manually tune them. And when you turn the thumb wheel, it changes both the AM and FM number. Gosh, it's been ten years since I've seen something like that. Totally unacceptable. I have returned and my money was refunded. (Note: the seller contacted me and told me that the inaccurate description is straight from Timex, which I confirmed. Nevertheless, either the seller or Amazon should edit the description so as not to pass on false information.)

Some good points, but more bad ones,

Good points:
1. Large display is very easy to read. Backlight is dimmable. 2. Reasonably priced. Bad points: 1. Weirdly shaped: very large in front (where the CD is inserted) and smaller at the back, so the unit seems larger than it really is. Nice for reading the display, but it looked crowded on my smallish bedside table. 2. Impossible to program a CD track selection as a wakeup option; Track 1 will play every time. To get variety, you have to switch CD's. That's just poor design. 3. There are a couple of nature sounds available as a wakeup option, but there is no "white noise" setting to aid in falling asleep. 4. Despite the claims of good FM reception, I was unable to get even one FM station to come in clearly (the unit sat next to a window), and even the local AM stations had static. I lived with drawbacks 1-4 for a week before giving up and returning the unit. It's just not very well made.

Very nice clock radio with a few annoyances,

I really liked this clock radio but returned it anyway due to a few annoyances. The first CD that it played would not play to the end. The player got stuck at the end of one track and just froze. The second annoyance is the wake to CD feature. It works fine but the random feature does not work with it. This means that you will always wake to track #1. Unless you change the CD you will wake to the same song every day. The third and minor annoyance is the MP3 line in jack. I plugged it in so I would not lose it, but that means the CD player is disabled. I had to pull the jack out part way until the CD player would play.
I also wanted a clock radio with battery backup that would power the wake up alarm. This clock radio does not do that. The battery backup is only to keep the time and alarm settings during a blackout. It will not wake you up during a blackout, which is what I really needed.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas. He loves it. It turned out a little bit bigger than I thought it will be, but the design and the look of it is great. The four soothing sounds are very nice to listen to, and the sound of the speakers is really good. You can change the display light from bright to "no" light (so it will not bother you if you can't sleep with light on). The clock also comes with a CD player and you can connect your MP3 player if you want. The radio function is easy to set.
Over all a great product which I would buy again.

Best Dimmer Settings Available,
By
This review is from: Timex T612s Auto Set Dual Alarm Clock Radio (Electronics)
I researched every alarm clock I could find online, and also in stores. This is definitely the best available. The styling is great, footprint is very reasonable, sound is good. Setting the alarm is easy, with 2 separate alarms.
The dimmer choices really make this one stand out. The low setting is low enough to not disturb sleep, and there is also an Off setting. Even in the Off setting, the display is easily read in daylight. If you read any other clock reviews you will find that other clock's dimmers have a real problem of being too bright. The only minor con I could say is that the CD alarm always starts at track 1, but I don't think that negates any of its good points. It does read R/W CDs, so you could remix your own alarm CDs. To one of the prior reviewers, I haven't seen any alarm clock battery backup able to actually power the alarm, just to keep the time setting. Owned for 4 months now and working great. I would highly recommend and buy again.

BEST ALARM CLOCK & DIMMER !!,
By Phylicia M. (mass) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Timex T612s Auto Set Dual Alarm Clock Radio (Electronics)
I read all the reviews on this alarm clock BEFORE I purchased it because I have been burned before, this clock won't let you down ! As another reviewer mentioned the dimmer settings are what sold them, I will admit it sold me too. I hated being blinded by all those alarm clocks! This has 3 levels of brightness or you can completely shut off the light. AWESOME!! I love the nature sounds that come with it, can be listened to while falling aleep ( even can set for 60,30 or 15 mins) or for an alarm. Has a CD player and can hook up to your MP3 . What is not to love? The sound isnt Bose but, hey the price isnt either..I am very satisfied and highly recommend !!

meh,

No digital tuning, despite the description. A major issue for me is that you can only use cd and buzzer for alarm 1 and radio or nature sounds for alarm 2. Doesn't seem like a huge deal, unless you want two buzzers in the morning, or buzzer and cd. Will only wake to track 1 when cd is set. Auto-timeset and digital timing are available on the smaller model, but that one doesn't have the cd player (and maybe not the nature sounds but not sure about that.) Nice appearance and design, otherwise. I can't recommend this though, because there are better options without these particular quirky design flaws.

Nice features, BUT very disappointing,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Timex T612s Auto Set Dual Alarm Clock Radio (Electronics)
I bought this clock because it has lots of great features: AM/FM clock radio, dimmable display, CD player, daylight-savings-time adjustment switch, etc. But the reality was one big disappointment after another. The worst disappointment was that the radio is difficult to tune accurately AND it doesn't hold the tuning! What good is a clock radio if you tune it to your favorite NPR station at bedtime, and by morning when the alarm comes on, it's drifted a few points up or down the dial and you wake up to static??? The other big disappointment: the lines that form the numerals are so thin that if you dim the display you can't read them from more than 2 feet away.
The final annoyance: by the time I got so fed up with the clock and packed it up to return it, the 90 day Timex warranty had expired. Grrr... I don't think that last complaint would have been a problem if this had come directly from Amazon, but the outside vendor, DB Roth, makes you return things to the manufacturer; they don't stand behind the things they sell. In summary, my recommendation is AVOID THIS CLOCK! |
