great watch for kids,
By Mom's opinion (Michigan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Timex Kids' T71962 IronKids Digital Fast Wrap Blue Watch (Watch)
My son received this watch for his 8th birthday last September. He has worn it every single day since receiving it and it still works great. He only takes it off for showers and swimming and then he puts it right back on. The only problem is that he is growing so much, the wristband of the watch is now getting a bit tight on his wrist. He uses the alarm function to wake himself up for school and he constantly uses the timer to time his running and to time how many minutes he has read for school. Will be getting him a new watch for his 9th birthday as this one is now finally looking a bit worn---but it was well worth the $18 for all the use he's gotten out of it.

My boy received Timex Ironkids watch as a Christmas present last year. He liked it very much but the watch plastic part was broken in 7 months. So I ordered a replacement from Amazon. Several months later, the watch freezes up. I checked it and found three out of four buttons don't bounce back after pressing them.My boy does like the design of this watch but two watches were broken in ten months. So don't expect it can last very long if you decide to buy this watch.

I have actaully had two so far. First one just froze about 8 days after my son received it. Amazon was excellent and replaced it. But now after about 4 weeks the elastic part of the band is all stretched out of space. Seems to be a real low build qaulity on this watch.

disapointed,

I was very pleased with this watch when it arrived. But, there have been several flaws occurring within 3 weeks. Firstly, the elastic in the strap is coming out. Secondly, the indiglo nightlight has failed and lastly the strap is not easy to adjust. I chose this model very carefully - from the many models available. I am very dissapointed in it.It is a good watch, but not up to the wear and tear of an ordinary 11 year old boy.

My 11 year old son got this for Christmas. He loves the all the different operational features and can easily operate the watch himself. Three negatives....1. The watch itself is really big and bulky. I can't imagine it on a younger kids' wrist. 2. 6 months later the elastic band that holds the watch to the watchband is all stretched out and looks ready to break any moment. and 3. All the color has scraped off the front of the watch though, to be fair, it's been worn every day for 6 months and probably gets banged around a lot. From my viewpoint, if they could streamline the size of this watch a bit and improve the band it would be 5 star all the way.

Timex Kids' Sports Watch,
This review is from: Timex Kids' T71962 IronKids Digital Fast Wrap Blue Watch (Watch)
The product is fantastic and very easy to use. The instructions are simple, and actuation of the buttons is nice for smaller hands. The Indiglo feature, waterproof construction, and alarm clock availability all make for a great kids' watch.

I bought this watch for my 6 year old son so he would stop asking me what time it is. I've been wearing Timex Ironman watches for the past 6 years and really like them, so I thought it would be fun to get him one that is similar to mom's. I was also interested in it being able to take a bit of a beating and being water resistant. When it arrived I was very pleased. It is a nice looking watch, not cheap looking and a sturdy construction. The velcro band was great for getting a perfect fit on my son's slim wrist and was very sturdy, doesn't feel like it'll lose it's adhesiveness any time soon. The indiglo punked out on him after only a couple days. I assume I could've exchanged it due to that but I would rather he not keep himself up at night checking what time it is anyway (could very have been the case & cause of it blowing out so quick), so I didn't bother. There are two problems that we have with it however, one of them that makes the watch unusable.1) The timer function will only work in ten minute increments. Not a huge deal but it is annoying since he would like to time 1 and 5 minute activities. 2) The big problem: The buttons on the side are far too easy to push. It's constantly getting bumped on his wrist causing it to go into set mode. For the first week or two I thought it was just slow. Again, I was too lazy to return it (I had just had a baby and was in a brain fog not able to deal with picky perhipheral problems). However after getting frustrated enough to attempt to find out if we could return it despite having thrown away all packaging (doh), I realized it wasn't slow it was just getting bumped. We have found it flashing to be set numerous times. So now instead of asking me what time it is all day, he's asking me if our watches are showing the same time, which they're usually not due to getting bumped. I'm going to just see if there's a woman's Ironman Timex in colors that aren't super feminine for him instead (I did try my watch on him & it fits fine).

This is the 3rd watch I have purchased, and the other two were great. This one says it is waterproof to 50 ft, but after 1 day in a pool, the face clouded up and the watch stopped working. I would not purchase this watch again, nor would I recommend it.

I ordered this watch for my 8 yr old son who needed an alarm to help him get home from playing on time! It's a nice design and the mechanics works well, but the strap isn't high quality. There is an elastic strap that holds the watch face on and after wearing for a week, it was loose and the watch face moved around.

My son's new watch,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My 6 year old loves the watch. He wears it all the time. The features, which include a chronometer and a timer are great. The only problem is the they are hard to set. The buttons are difficult to push (although, my son manages to push litght button all the time). Nevertheless, the watch works as a great reinforcer for learning to tell time and the timer has helped greatly in situations where he has to wait. It was worth the money.
