Product Description

Need a quick and easy way to determine the morning temperature? Check out the TIMEX TX5020 electronic thermometer, a versatile desktop model that simultaneously displays both the inside and outside temperatures on its large LCD display. This compact unit - which mounts on a wall or sits unobtrusively on a tabletop or shelf - offers a wide indoor and outdoor temperature range. As a result, you can instantly gauge whether to bring the plants inside during a cold spell, turn up the heat in the living room, or put on a jacket before taking a stroll. The TX5020 includes a minimum/maximum memory function that records the high and low temperatures of the day. Thermometer includes a wired, weather-resistant probe for gauging the outdoor temperature (to access outside temperatures, main unit will need to be located near a window, so probe can gauge outside temperatures). The TX5020 has a sleek and convenient design with its silver housing and oversized front-panel controls.

OK if you're lucky May 20, 2010

I bought two units and place them side by side at my desk. Each unit reads the temperature with two different sensors, and the agreement between the four readings was reasonable, total difference of the order of 1 C. However, after a few days one of them just stopped working. The other one is still OK one month later. If I were to buy it again it would rather choose a more expensive one.

Not too bad for the price December 6, 2009

For the price, this is not a bad little thermometer. It seems to be reasonably accurate within a degree or two. The only problem I have with it is the construction. It is made of very cheap plastic so it won't be too durable and, in the one I bought at least, the battery compartment was not well made. The single AAA battery won't fit snugly into the compartment in back so, until I wedged a piece of paper in the compartment with it, it often popped out even when I had replaced the plastic lid to the compartment. Other than that, though, it works well.

Works well October 3, 2009
The thermometer appears to be accurate. The only flaw, that I can find, is that it is difficult to read in soft lighting. Otherwise it is worth the money.

thermometer
The only problem with this thermometer is that the lead must be out the window to read outdoor temps At least part of the day it is in the sun so gives a false reading

Cheap/ flimsy
It appeared to be accurate based on what the weather channel stated the temps were but it stopped working after using it for only a month. The stand is cheap and flimsy also.

Horrible....
Broke after a week. The "stand" was little more than absolutely and totally useless. Kept falling, which then would make the battery fall out constantly. Wrong temp readings. Read more

I don't think it's very accurate
I bought this for my desk at work. Every day at 10:30 the air conditioning kicks on and the temperature drops to where we all put on our sweaters but the gauge never shows more... Read more

WORKS WELL, TAKES LITTLE SPACE, CHKS INSIDE & OUT
Works well. I own a number of thermometers because I like knowing the temperature in my various rooms to determine if guests would be comfortable. Read more

indoor outdoor thermometer
It is an inexpensive indoor outdoor thermometer and seems to work just fine. Worth the money.
And it was sent promptly.
