5.0 out of 5 stars Great Watch!
My ancient digital Timex Ironman was giving out and I needed to find a replacement. I wanted the same thing I had, which was a digital 30 lap with a Velcro band and large display. Through searching, I located only two and decided on this model. It offers indiglo with a twist, it can also be activated with a snap of the wrist without the need to push a button. It also...

3.0 out of 5 stars Timex Women's Watch
The watch is still a little large for my wrist, but I have really small wrists. I was disappointed that the strap does not appear to come off easily, so it may be difficult to replace once this one gets dirty. However, for the price, it looks like it will be a pretty good, long-lived, functional watch for outdoor activities. I found it pretty easy to set-up the...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Watch, January 18, 2007

It is hard to find a watch that is sporty, can fit smaller wrists, and is functional but not too big. The face on this Timex is bigger and easier to read. The feature that is really neat is the Indiglo light that can be turned on with a flick of your wrist.

I found it pretty easy to set-up the flip-wrist indiglo activation, but it's not a delicate maneuver. The watch is light weight and comfortable on my wrist. I can't find one I like any better for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ironman triathlete here - buy this watch, June 3, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Timex Unisex T5G271 Ironman 30-Lap Watch (Watch)
With over 7 years of daily running or triathlon training, I can say this watch is perfect for any athlete. I love it so much, I have purposely sought out buying it for a third time! The first one was left in a locker room, and the second was dropped in a lake lol.

Pros:

- Easy to read, customizable layout.

- tons of splits (more than enough for an Ironman triathlon; taking a split for swim, t1, bike, t2, and each mile of the marathon)

- Very waterproof; I do all my swim practices with it! It even held up with a cracked face (my fault).

- VELCRO! I love the comfort of the cloth and the complete adjustability of the sturdy velcro. Plastic wristbands are uncomfortable IMO.

- Long battery life. You will lose this thing sooner than the battery will die (lol). My 2nd one lasted over 4 years.

- Compact design, great for swimming

Cons:

- Fabric wristband can be uncomfortable to some.

- Doesn't float in lakes (lol)

From a triathlete's perspective, this watch is everything I need it to be. And it's cheap enough that I didn't freak out after losing it twice. I wear it all the time. I race and train with it every time. I even have a watch tan from wearing this thing so much. Great product, great price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good 30-Lap Velcro Strap Watch, August 24, 2010

This review is from: Timex Unisex T5G271 Ironman 30-Lap Watch (Watch)
This watch is a pretty good implementation of the Timex 30-Lap Ironman Series of watches. If you're looking for a sports watch with a velcro strap, you might want to take a look at this watch.

Pros:

- Velcro strap.

- Ease of use. I didn't need to read the manual to set the time and use most of the features. There may be some features when you need to break open the manual but having the manual in a pdf (available on the Timex web site) helps alleviate the hassle.

- Smaller than the ordinary men's watch.

- Good timer mode: it can count down 24 hours in hours, minutes, and seconds.

- Good implementation of the other features of the Timex 30-Lap Ironman watches.

Cons:

- short strap: 5.5 inches only in length of cloth section of velcro (I estimate that a person will have a hard time to put it on a wrist with a diameter of 5 inches or more).

- the plastic strap housing can get uncomfortable

The watch/face is much smaller than I thought it would be. I am 5'10 and 160 lbs so I am not a big guy, but when I opened the box I immediately gave it to my wife. She loves it (so the rating is correct for the watch, but the size is wrong for a man).

2.0 out of 5 stars great watch, awful band, May 8, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Timex Unisex T5G271 Ironman 30-Lap Watch (Watch)
I bought this watch less than a month ago, and I got this one because I knew I wanted a Timex Ironman (I've loved the ones I've had in the past) but I didn't want the resin band, because it irritates my wrist and my last one got discolored. This watch is great, and I use all of its features regularly--I originally bought it to time my runs, but I also use it to count down study time so I take regular breaks, I love having 3 alarms available to set, etc. The problem is, in less than a month the band is completely fraying! I have strings hanging off in multiple places that I need to cut off. I do wear the watch all day, but I take it off to shower. I just can't believe the band is falling apart so quickly. Obviously Timex has a lot of work to do as far as their bands are concerned. I'm not sure what to do because I do love the function of the watch itself. I probably will not buy another Ironman in the future unless they change something significant about their bands.

This review is from: Timex Unisex T5G271 Ironman 30-Lap Watch (Watch)
My son is training for a running event and needed a watch with splits to help him train. The face and velcro wrist band on this watch are small enough he can wear the watch comfortably. He has worn it every day since we purchased it and so far so good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great watch for a child., April 15, 2011

This review is from: Timex Unisex T5G271 Ironman 30-Lap Watch (Watch)
There's no need to rate the sports functionality of this watch since it's an Ironman and everybody knows what they do. I got this watch because my son is a runner and his wrists are very small and this watch fits him perfectly. It's got a large readout with a huge 'lap' button and it will also tell time for the real world. Combined with Amazon pricing and service and there really isn't much else to say.
