I love this watch! I bought it mainly for the ipod control...haven't fooled around too much with many of the other features besides "chrono." I have the new 3G iPod nano and though it is not listed as compatible with the icontrol, it still works. I have an armband holder and all I have to do is insert my ipod upside down, and the timex connector sticks out of the bottom...no problems! It's great because the armband and the protective cover for my ipod makes it really hard to control the ipod once I've inserted it into the armband. Now, I don't even have to unlock the ipod, I just hit the play button on the watch and it automatically plays whatever playlist I've set!

It's great because I can control the volume of my ipod to adjust for louder songs, and can also turn it down when I am running through neighborhoods and want to be able to hear if someone is running up behind me.

I have really small wrists and, even though I'm latched into the last hole, it is plenty tight to keep it from rolling around my wrist. The the band lock is great...I got so tired of the bands sticking straight out when the holder slid off it (mostly when I'm swimming).

The only con I can see so far with this watch is that the buttons are really small and may be difficult for someone to operate with big fingers. However, I am able to easily control the buttons, even with the jostle of my running. I sometimes have to repress the buttons because I did not press hard enough, but that's the only problem I've had.

It's very simple to use...just plug the connector into the iPod and you are set to go. It's really that easy!

Until I read a review that said they had used the watch with iPods not listed and it worked, I was worried, but then I went ahead and purchased it and want to pass on the good news... it works with both of the latest iPod products I own! The iPhone does have to go into airplane mode, so you would not be able to get or make calls. I can suffer that for the remote aspect. The fat Nano (video) works perfectly. Went running with this and it was so great to jump to the next NPR podcast if the one I was on was not of interest to me!

I am so thrilled I almost want to buy another. Plus it is comfortable. Yes, you cannot change bands, but this one is much more comfy than the Casio I had been wearing.

If you want to control an iPod, Nano, or even iPhone playing music, this item is a gem.

I purchased this item for my girlfriend, who is always running. She loves it, she doesn't have to look away from what is in front of her to control the ipod. Everytime she completes a run she thanks me.

I read in lot of posts that this watch is not compatible with iphone 3g but i still bought it. I've been playing around with it a bit and it DOES work with an iphone 3g...
Here is what you have to do -
go to airplane mode, plug in the receiver, dismiss the warning message and start playing your music. The volume control doesn't work this way if you already have the headphones plugged in. So remove the headphones and plug them back in and the volume control is back to normal. You can get out of the airplane mode now and u will be able to receive the calls as well...yes, i tested it...and ya - enjoy the music on your iphone 3g and control it from your watch...

the other purposes of the watch - time, chrono, etc, etc...it is timex so i wouldn't even bother to test & review them...

I don't own this watch, but I wanted to warn potential buyers of a potential problem with the band that I experienced along with numerous others. The band for this watch is the exact same design as: Timex Unisex Ironman Triathlon Sleek 5/1 Resin Strap Watch #T54281 and while it is comfortable at first eventually the band simply detaches from the face of the watch. You can see pictures under the customer submitted images on the watch from the included link. Unfortunately no one has posted this problem with this watch on this page and it seems as though most of the reviews are from relatively new owners. The band detachment happened to most of the reviewers at approximately one year. Take this review for what it is worth: just a warning. On a final note Timex has not included this band problem in the warranty coverage.

The watch didn't work with my itouch after numerous attempts even though a few reviewers said it did. After a more thorough google search I learned the problem is widespread so please keep that in mind. It worked well with my ipod nano and all the watch functions are easy to use. The plastic band does look a little cheap but this watch gives you what you need when working out. Too bad timex can't combine it with a heart rate monitor and then you would have the ultimate work out aid.

I bought a watch at Wal-Mart for just $5 less without any iPod features and missing some other features too! I returned that one and bought this instead. This watch is easy to use and it makes it easier to switch songs or adjust the volume on my iPod. I'm not worried about the strap breaking as easily as the other Timex watch, (as discussed in another review), because it is more flexible. My last watch was the harder plastic and it broke after about one to two years. I only wish the watch had a more feminine, sleek face to it. I also wish the piece that connects to my iPod were smaller or that it came with a case that would fit it correctly. I'm using the side pocket of a lumbar water bottle holder and it just barely fits.

Overall this is a very good product that could keep you from reaching up to your arm to alter the controls of your watch

This product is excellent and is an excellent alternative to the Nike Plus system. It works great and it is pretty much plug and play. I am an avid runner and really enjoy the system.

This replaced my old timex ironman watch that had a broken plastic wrist strap. Though the new replacement still has the same plastic strap, I like the watch so much I was willing to give it a try, particularly since it had the iControl. This watch is even better than the old one: the dial is slightly larger, easier to read; the dial still has the night light for reading the time in the dark; the iControl is not perfect but great for my needs! I hope that the plastic strap holds for a couple of years, as it seems they are prone to failing. But it is as close to perfect as I can expect for the reasonable price.
