This watch is an excellent value for what you get. It has a band that fits my large wrist with one notch to spare. The time number is 3/8th of an inch tall. Easy to see for older folks. The day of the month is about 1/4 of an inch tall. The month is not shown however. No problem as most of us know what month we are in. The day of the week is a little poor in reading but you will get used to it. Water resistant but do not hit a button hard under water as it will leak. It has an extra time slot for showing a different time zone once you set it. Nothing fancy or complicated here. I won't have to constantly school myself and check a manual to operate it as the controls are laid out simply. I don't need to jam my finger in hard to press the button in. THIS WATCH WAS WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR. Simple, cheap and no big deal if it gets broken. I will buy another when the time comes. I hope Timex keeps selling it.

I purchased this watch to replace an ironman watch with a fastwrap band. The fastwrap band (fabric & velcro) was great but absorbed water (and sweat) and subsequently developed an odor that I could not remove, so I was looking specifically for a watch with a rubber or resin band that was inexpensive for use at the gym.
I ordered this watch mostly on price and that it looked pretty basic. I was extremely pleased when I received the watch. It's actually quite good looking. It does the usual stuff like alarms, timers, and of course time. The ring that holds the excess band in place has a little nub on the inside that sort of snaps into an unused buckle hole that keeps the excess band from eventually flopping around and getting caught on things. You know what they say - "it's the little things." I might even buy another one.

Bought this watch for running. I don't need a fancy GPS or Heart Monitor watch, but something with an alarm and stopwatch. So far this has worked great. Durable (got it wet a few times) and comfortable for running. Exactly what I needed and the price was really good. I recommend it.

I bought this watch strictly for the countdown timer, which I believe are increasingly hard to find. The watch is very inexpensive, but it is well worth the money. It is easy to operate and the dial light is just right. It is tough and also very suitable for swimming and snorkeling.

I got back into running and was looking for a cheap watch that had a stop watch feature. The one thing that impressed me was that despite it's price, it does not have a cheap feel. It actually feels verys sturdy. I'm giving 5 stars not because it's the best watch out there, but it's the best for the price.

Its a great watch for the price, it fits well and is pretty small on your wrist, the buttons dont always go the first time you press them but its not really a big deal. overall i would recomend the watch for a simple work out watch and it can be used as a casual watch as well. cant lose for the price!

I was looking for a simple, cheap, (maybe even expedible) digital timepiece for backpacking. I ran across the 1440 line by Timex. There's really something for just about any active person in this line of affordable watches, the majority being around $15-$16 here on Amazon.
Pros: lightweight, I LOVE all the information on the main screen--LARGE time, seconds, date and day of the week. It also has a stopwatch and countdown timer. It's personal choice, but this is best looking of the 1440s for men...I like the mostly black look with the blue ring. Water proof to way further than I'll ever go (I'm not a diver). PRICE!!! At less than $16, it's a steal! Very comfortable watchband, and even for big arms like mine. Cons: the second time zone feature is useless to me, but hey, it might work for some folks. And maybe it won't work with dress clothes, but I wasn't buying a dress watch. Bottom line: get one. I personally like this over the couple Ironmans I've owned. It's simple to use, does what it's supposed to do, and doesn't break the bank doing so. Cheers!

My Digital Productivity Coach,

I got this watch to help me follow through on a plan to take 10 minute breaks every hour, which is supposed to help your productivity. I had used normal kitchen timers, but I hated the ticking noise and jumping out of my chair every time it went off. Digital timers were better, but they always seemed to stop making sounds at some not-too-distant point (though working otherwise).
And of course, I'd settle down to work and realize the timer was in another room. Or it would be there, but then I'd leave the room thinking it would be for a minute but ending up staying somewhere else much longer. So I knew I wanted something that went with me wherever I was and could count down to 0, as well as up. I didn't want it to be hideous looking, in case someone came by while I was wearing it. And I wanted something inexpensive, of course. This was the only product I saw that met all those criteria. And I really like it! As others have said, it is a little bigger than you would think for unisex, but it's not nearly as bulky as men's sports watches I've seen. It counts down and up as well as the regular watch functions. The sound is loud enough that I can hear it anywhere in the house, but it's not nails-on-chalkboard jarring as kitchen timers often are. In fact, I've set it to chirp once every house so even if I'm not wearing it, I know another hour has passed. If you're going to use it for counting down though, keep the little manual handy for a while because I kept forgetting how to set the time for that--and it's not intuitive. If Timex wanted to make it even better for future versions...I would make the timer easier to set up, as well as make it so that when you get to timer mode, it automatically brings up the last time you put in. Then you could just adjust up or down from there. Also, it would be awesome if the timer continued after it went off, counting up. Too often I say I'll stop in "just a minute" which turns into a lot of minutes. But overall, I think it's a great tool for managing your time better!

Great Watch:1.Easy to read (Date and time) 2.Durable 3.Nice multiple functions Cons: 1.Annoying Beep to switch functions (Timex, why cant we have option to turn off?) 2.Day is too small (Timex should have made only current day show, not all seven and highlight current day, small to read) Great watch for the Price Update: I have moved this watch to be a shower watch. Is stationed on the rack. Unconfortable, on the wrist. I purchased a more expensive Timex Flix Ironman, mainly because I could not read the day. The comfort of the new watch is wonderful, spend the extra money if you can.

I bought this waterproof watch specfically for the countdown feature which I use for timing myself in the sauna/hot tub at my gym. The timer feature for laps was a plus that I use for running. But I found it hard to remember the directions for using both the countdown and the lap timer, as they both seemed counter intuitive. Also, the timer feature doesn't seem to always set back to zero or pause properly. But when it does, this watch is great. I had to knock off a star for that. It also has a very large face which is extremely large, but wearable, on the average women's wrist.
