Don't test the WR depths...
on May 6, 2015
This watch served me pretty faithfully for over two years...casual usage, pool, sometimes beach, etc. It was starting to look a bit ratty, as the color was wearing off on the top, but since I wore it only for sporting and casual occasions, it was fine. I liked that this strap lasted longer than the other Ironman watches I had purchased in past years.
Unfortunately, I decided to test the WR to 330 meters concept when scuba diving a couple of weeks ago. I should have remembered that It had seemed to take in water at one point, but the watch didn't stop in any way, and all was fine. So, I gave it a try, thinking "what the heck...I'm thinking of replacing it anyway...". Well, I wasn't more than 10 m deep when I looked down to see that the display was starting to break up. Within a minute or so, it was gone, and it's been dead since.
While the hard usage may have decreased the WR ability, please be advised that this watch will probably not make it if it is submerged to any depth for anything more than a few seconds, especially if it has any age. I was without a casual watch for the remainder of my vacation. Lesson learned.
