I can't say much more than what others have reported with exception of the actual truck I installed this in.

Packaging was ok, not much in the way of foam or peanuts, but than again if you can drop this at 3' and it breaks, you probably won't want to put it on your truck.

Solid build quality, bearing appeared to be a lot longer (deep) than the OEM I pulled, would have compared but this job was already 8-hours in the making and it was dark.

Problem was not installation, but removal of the old one. Ford uses some sort of white thread lock that required a 2' breaker and all the body weight I could put into it to move 2 degrees or one click on a ratchet. That said, I finally figured out "what to torch" and heat up to break the bolts loose. I was torching with propane the old assembly around the bolt til it got hot with pitiful results. After a while and getting tired I torched the bolt from the front by accident (to clarify, the end you can see poking out away from the vehicle, the bolt head is on the back side) and noticed it when smoke started coming out --turns out the smoke is burnt thread-lock and wow big difference there.

This isn't something I do everyday and likely anyone coming here is the same DIY home mechanic .. so I hope this helps

As suggested by many articles I read about replacing my stock wheel bearing assembly, I purchased and installed the Timkem SP470200 Assembly. I am very happy that I did. Timken makes top of the line bearings and has an excellent reputation. I am extremely sattisfied with the product. I purchased it for half the price of a dealer part, installed it myself and saved about $250 dollars in labor. If you are mechanically inclined, you should be able to replace your existing wheel bearing assembly. If you are not, maybe you could purchase the assembly and find a mechanic to do it for you as a side job.

This bearing is EXACTLY what the OEM uses. If you look at your pld bearing after you take it out of the vehicle you can see the word TIMKEN stamped in the back of it.

I highly urge anyone reading this who may be on the fence of spending 220+ on an OEM bearing to buy this because Timken is the manufacturer of the OE bearing. Plus, these are around the same cost of not as well made autoparts store bearings. Seems like a no brainer to me

Happy shopping!

You can't go wrong with Timken parts, and this was a perfect replacement part for my 2005 Ford Explorer. No issues with installation, and it cured my noisy OEM bearings. I'm always hesitant with non-OEM parts, but Timken is a very reputable company. I've used their products in the past with great success...I expect the same from these!

Great product! Can't beat the Timken line for OEM replacement. There are cheaper bearing and hub assemblies out there but they are Chinese junk and don't last. Unless you like installing wheel bearings and hub assemblies, go with Timken.

MAN oh MAN if is great to not hear my wheel bearings grinding. Had the front right replaced 15K ago when I was in a hurry to get the vehicle ready for vacation ($300), then when I was traveling for work a couple of months ago, I let my wife take the explorer back in for the left bearing ($300). The problen didn't completely go away. Shop said it wasn't the bearings (which were both under warantee). So I drove it for a while to diagnose, myself.... well, last night I changed that right front bearing with this part. It is such a relief to not hear the grind. Took me 2.5 hours to change both front brakes (pads and rotors) and change this bearing. If you can change brakes, this is just 3 more bolts, one big hub nut (get the right socket!!!) and the sensor cable is easy to unplug and pop out/in the retainers. This part was definitely designed well for exchange. TIP - remove the axle nut before trying to remove the bolts from the back side. you can then push/tap/hammer the axle back thru the hub enough to give you room to get your socket on those 3 bolts from the back side.

a friendly tip from your local Valvoline guy - - WISH THESE THINGS HAD GREASE FITTINGS! THEN I would love it.

Spend a little more so you don't have to replace them again in 30k miles. The Explorer rides like butter now.
