There are other bilingual books aimed at children on the market, but this delightfully humorous, yet socially conscious little book is surely unique. It's hard to decide which is more pleasing -- the clever text by Pat Alvarado, or the adventurously colorful illustrations by Fernando Pena Moran. I never thought I'd fall in love with a trashcan, but Timoteo Tinaco is such an engaging little character, who could resist his appeal? Not me! And not any child who is fortunate enough to hold Timothy in his or her hands. And what an excellent way for this adult, now living in a country where Spanish is rarely spoken, to brush up his vocabulary!
