Top Notch Production Is The Focus (4 Stars),
By
This review is from: Tim's Bio: Life From Da Bassment (Audio CD)
When cats like Timbaland drop an album, you pretty much know already that the focus is on the beats instead of the rhymes. And I have to say that the beats on this album were some of the tightest out at the time. I want to say that Tim is the best producer to ever come out of Virginia, but The Neptunes are running neck and neck with Mr. Mosley (with Nottz holding down 3rd place). The guest appearances are even tight. There are a lot of no names on this album along with the usual suspects like Jay Z, Missy, Magoo, Nas, Aaliyah, Skillz (aka Mad Skillz)Ginuwine, and Ludacris (this was actually my first time ever hearing of Ludacris). Even Twista comes through and tears a Timbaland beat to shreds. There really aren't any negative things to be said about this album. Even the no name artists hold down their positions very well.
Basically, this album is a showcase for Tim's beats. We all know this. And the beats on this album don't disappoint. It's a great addition to your collection and still bumps even today. Tim has changed up his production schemes since this release, but this is still some of his best stuff. I'd suggest getting this album if you haven't heard it already. Standout Tracks: Lobster & Scrimp feat. Jay Z, Fat Rabbit feat. Ludacris, Here We Come feat. Missy & Magoo, Who Am I feat. Twista (My Favorite), To My feat. Nas & Mad Skillz, and Bringin' It

He's the man... they call Timbaland!,

After listening through hip-hop's mainstream, you hear tracks from the innovative DJ Premier, the Trackmasters, & No Limit's Beats By The POund. We look into the deep depths of the dirty south in southern Virginia and we find Tim Mosley (a.k.a. Timbaland). With many hits tied behind his belt including Aaliyah's "Are You That Somebody?", SWV's "Can We", and even Jay-Z's "Nigga What? Nigga Who?", Tim has kept a low profile and is the most popular beat maker of hip-hop today. His first effort (which is really a compilation produced by him) is the best of his work. With the hardcore elements of the album (i.e. "To My" featuring Nas & Mad Skillz, "Who Am I?" featuring Twista, and "Fat Rabbit" performed by Ludichris)along with a taste of rhythm & blues (i.e. "Keep It Real" by Ginuwine, "Happy Birthday" by Playa, and "Talking On The Phone" by Kelly Price), Tim stays true to his unique sounds and banging beats. This album is a definite jeep-rocker and is good at parties. It also has numerous guest appearances by such artists as Jay-Z, Magoo, Missy Elliott, Aaliyah, Nas, & Twista. He also introduces to the world a new group called 1 Life 2 Live and a new female MC, Bassey. Timbo's vocal presence may not be present much on the album, but his bangin' beats make up for it. This is a must for the beat bangin' production freaks out there. Timbaland is an inspiration to many and has created a new sound for the new millenium.

Timbaland Is The Man!!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tim's Bio: Life From Da Bassment (Audio CD)
This CD is Timbalands best beats put together yet. The last Cd "welcome to our world" was good but this one is all that. On this one he gets help from true rappers like Nas and Jay-z to add lyrical fire to two of the seventeen tracks. Then he has everyone else here as usual like Aaliyah, missy, magoo etc... I thought this one might be a little corny after hearing the first single, but I was wrong. He has hard beats, smooth beats, mid tempo, and any other kind of beat you can think of. This man is the king of beats. His style cannot be duplicated and will probably be on top with this one. If you like his crew ( missy, Aaliyah, Ginuwine etc..) then get this one. A must have!!

Tim comes hard with the beats on this one,

Timbaland almost out did himself with this one. He gets tighter and tighter with every cd he produces. If anyone dosen't know who tim is let me fill u in. He is the producer responsible for making hit albums by : Ginuwine(both cds), Missy(both cds with missy's help), Aalyiah(second cd), Tim and magoo(welcome to our world), Are u that somebody(Aalyiah)-dr. doolittle sdtk, Nas(one track), Lil Kim(twice my age-track)...etc. This cd takes him to new hights by bringing in jigga(jay-z), missy and the rest of the crew along with some new voices. The best songs here are : 2,4, 6, 7, 15, and 16. Timbaland is best as a producer though and the only thing with this cd is that he dosen't do much rapping. His skills can pass since he produces he can get away with it. But don't listen expecting to hear him rap all through....because he dosen't. But expect to hear some hard, wall shaking, head-knocking beats as we always expect from Tim. The other half of the cd is R+B and 2 out of the 6 songs are good. His best beats I think are the ones he did for missy's new cd...Da real world. That is another one to check out if u don't have it.Overall this cd is good for just the beats if nothing else. get if your looking for some new sounds to test your sound system or just if your a fan..or non-fan.

So I only purchased this cd to get one of my favorite songs which is "Birthday" performed by Playa, other than that song the cd isn't all that great. But, I did also like "John Blaze" performed by my queen Aaliyah ft. Missy Elliott.
