Ike Turner Instrumentals,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ike & Tina Turner's Kings of Rhythm Band Dance (Audio CD)
As the other reviewer noted, Tina does not appear on this. Instead we get Ike and the band blasting through a set of instrumental soul funk with an early sixties feel. The music is great and Ike does shine on guitar. My only issue is that there is not a lot of variety to be found here but the music is high quality and fun for what it is - groovin' instrumental party music. It is also a treat to hear Ike out front on the guitar as he could really light it up when he wanted to even though the tracks are all relatively short. Well worth adding to your collection.

The best party album of all time,
By A Customer
This review is from: Ike & Tina Turner's Kings of Rhythm Band Dance (Audio CD)
Though she is pictured on the cover and credited in the album's title, Tina Turner actually appears nowhere on this album; and that's a good thing, because with her out of the way, Ike is given a chance to do what he does best--play the electric guitar. Though known more these days as a drunk and a wifebeater, Ike was actually quite a guitar player in his day. His guitar shucks, struts, and stutters all over this album, taking bloodythirsty solo after solo. Open a bottle, crank it up, get down, and make your neighbors hate you.

Tina's Got Nothing To Do With It - And That's Fine!,
By
This review is from: Ike & Tina Turner's Kings of Rhythm Band Dance (Audio CD)
This is a reissue of a 1962 Sue album that entirely comprised of Ike Turner on guitar backed by his band (all handpicked by Ike and great players in their own right). While I can't speak for Ike's personal choices, as a musician he is one of the greatest of all time. This album showcases Ike the guitar player, and believe me he could play - rhythm or lead, he scorches and rips through the material. A great album to have on when you want to get the party started - no lazy jams here - a must!
