1)Bayou Song (P.J Morse)

2)Help me make it through the night (K. Kristoferson)

3)Tonight I'll be staying here with you (B. Dylan)

4)If you love me (let me know) (J. Rostill)

5)He Belongs to me (B. Dylan)

[Side2]

1)Don't talk now (J. Taylor)

2)Long Long time (G.WHite)

3)I'm Movin on (H. Snow)

4)There'll Always be music (D. Parton)

5)The love that lights our way (F. Karlin/M Karlin){From the motion picture "The Autobiography of Miss. Jane Pittman".)

Tina Turner released this album in 1974, a solo effort.Sales were ok, and the album took a grammy nomination for Best R&B vocal female in1974, against Etta James (St. Louis Blues[a cover of Bessie Smiths song])Shirley Brown (woman to woman) Millie Jackson (If loving you is wrong I don't want to be right)Ann Peebles (You Keep me )Hangin on) It was strange to hear country standards blended with black vocal power. The first cut is "Bayou Song". Turner starts off with a smooth as silk vocal style, and there is a sense of urgency. The instrumental back drop is a mixture of Country, R&B and rock. Urban country is a turm I would use to describe this track. Track 2 is a gospel/jazz opus that has a calming way. The gospel ballad piano, with a sax playing softly in the background. Turner sings calmly, understated, soulfully, and sensually, in an almost jazzy fashion. While very different from Gladys Knights version, it has a pure soul element, while maintaining the country element.

Track 3 Turner sings in a belting soul style against a country pounding instrumental background, giving Dylans country song a R&B feel.

Track 4 is a reworking of Olivia Newton Johns "If you love me let me know" which is my favorite recording of the song to date. Turner had a very expressive voice, and with the back up of her Ikettes transforms the country song into an R&B Girl group/Gospel/Country/Pop opus, giving an almost ultimatum style delivery, with tenderness and power all in the same delivery.

Track 5 is yet another Bob Dylan song cool soul delivery against a twangy country back drop. Her singers (The Ikettes sing nicley behind her.)

Side two, takes off with James Taylor track performed with a gospel delivery, with rasping undertones, against the Hillbilly backdrop.

Long Long time(track 2) Has a lonsome cowboy sound, Tina Turner sings the lyrics with conviction, with a mournful sensibility.

track 3)Is an awesome performance of the old country standard by Hank Snow. Turner and the girls rock rip it up, attitude, with a pure country background, and the girls singing well behind Turner. A kind of pointer sisters "fairy tale" feel to it. Full of energy and soul this song could have won the grammy for best R&B vocal female in 1974, but as expected it was Aretha who won the award. The last 2 tracks are among my 2 favorite tracks. There'll always be music, written by the amazing Dolly Parton. This song is the incarnate of descriptive song writing. Turner sings parton in a gospel style singing the song with a storytellers wisdom.

The Ikettes provide the gospel signing backup.

The last track could be intrepreted as a gosple with the earnest flute and piano. Turner sings that song beautifully and gospel charged.

This album is one of my favorites, I recently had the songs transfered to cd(the album not available on cd yet) and i treasure it.
