Editorial Reviews

Review

"This is a clever and beautiful fantasy story that is simple and deep at the same time. The stories of fantasist George MacDonald came to mind as Aluma is whirled...in one fantastic adventure after another. The illustrations are as impressive as the ideas and images evoked by the words in this story and were based on actual models crafted by the author. It does make me somewhat intrigued and excited about what new visions and vistas readers might get to explore from this new and gifted talent. The Tinfoil Girl is a very special book and an absolute treat to read." Jack Magnus, Readers Favorite

The Tinfoil Girl is a charming story about the adventures of Aluma, who is made from tinfoil. Aluma is carried away by a gust of wind and so begins her journey to find her creator. The storyline is extremely well written, the characters come alive and Olivia Miller's imagination just shines through. The illustrations are perfect and I'm sure that if a short animation could be made of The Tinfoil Girl's adventures it would prove to be very successful. I'm looking forward to Olivia's next story.

Well written for the author's age, I'm glad I got this little book and will be reading it to grandchildren and encouraging them to write their own stories. The illustrations are excellent -- wanted to say 'cute', but Olivia Miller is not a 'cute' author although she is young. I expect to see more from her pen.

As a book blogger (no, I was not asked for this review by the author or anyone representing the author... read it on my own accord :) I read a lot of different books by a lot of different authors. As a mother of four I like finding books that are unique and engage my children. I want them as diverse in reading as I am.

Initially I grabbed this book for my kids, but saw the illustrations were also by the author which made me curious. Opening it just to see the pictures, I got sucked in. Lol. It was an adorable story, with a wonderful lesson taught and unique illustrations.

Best of luck to Aluma, Tinford, and especially Olivia! And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I chose this rating because I was impressed with the creativity of this 10 year old author. Yes, that's what I said - 10 years old. Of course, she has a terrific mentor - her author Dad, Mark. BUT the creativity is all her own. Kudos! Job well done, Olivia. I will read her next one, too!

This book is truly amazing. I can't believe a nine year old girl came up with such an original idea. What imaginative fun! I can't wait to go on further adventures with The TinFoil Girl!
