5.0 out of 5 stars A good buy on a great product!

3.0 out of 5 stars GInger Candy
I've been looking for this candy since I found it in Hawaii two years ago. My daughter found it online for me at Amazon. The only problem I have is the inner lining sticks to the candy and tears when trying to remove it. Otherwise, it's what I was looking for.

The candy itself is wonderful...very chewy and spicy. It will wake you up better than a cup of coffee, makes a sore throat feel better and also helps an upset tummy! And, if you are feeling fine, it just tastes good! If you like spicy heat and chewy texture, try this great candy out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ting Ting Jahe Saved my Marriage!, September 18, 2006

Things were critical. He was about two steps from walking out--taking my heart with him. Didn't know what else to do, how to stop him. I grabbed a bag of Ting Ting Jahe and swung it at his head as hard as I could. Knocked him out cold. When he came to, he had a pretty good case of amnesia and didn't remember wanting to leave.

These are the ginger shews you've tasted at asian restaurants... The real deal! Spicy, chewy and sweet! Stronger flavor than the others available...for ginger lovers only:)

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Ginger Candy!, September 2, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ting Ting Jahe Ginger Candy (5.25oz) (Misc.)
First, I should say that I'm mostly a fan of crystallized (sugar-dried/cured) ginger, not ginger candies. This is the first, and as of this writing, only ginger candy I would care to eat. Why? It's sugar, ginger, and a bit of tapioca starch to prevent clumping, and you can TASTE that. The texture fantastic: chewy, but it softens quickly in the mouth so you won't lose fillings. Unlike any ginger candy I've had, this actually tastes like ginger, and not just any ginger, but really high quality ginger. There is pleasant heat to it, but it's not just sugar and blazing fire. To someone who eats crystallized ginger, this is a nice treat and you'll recognize the ginger immediately. For someone who is a fan of ginger snaps and bread, you'll enjoy this too without being blown away by heat or sweetness.

What I think stands out above all, is that the taste evolves from an early soft heat, to a light ginger taste, into a deep ginger flavor that you only get from the best ginger snaps. The difference is that the taste keeps going, and the heat stays pleasant, never overwhelming. I LOVE this candy, and there is one other big deal for me; it eases nausea (motion sickness) like fresh ginger I've eaten. Whatever cooking goes into making this candy, the gingerol and other goodies that make ginger taste AND helpful are still there. I bought one bag here just to try... I'm buying the multi-pack next time, by which I mean today.

One note: if you want a ginger FLAVORED candy without ginger's heat and full taste... this is not for you. If you hate any kind of heat then this is not for you, but it's not a punishing heat. If you enjoy a delicious mellow heat and the subtle flavor of the best ginger snaps that lasts a shockingly long time after the candy is gone, this IS for you. If you want something to give you that ginger experience, but you need to curb the amount of crystallized ginger you're eating (tasty, but it's high calorie) this is DEFINITELY for you!!! This is a deeply satisfying treat that I wouldn't replace having tried it. Really, I can't recommend this enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get ready for the heat!, January 13, 2007

If you like ginger, and you like hot stuff, this is it. Ting Ting Jahe was a revelation in the world of sweets for me.

The ginger is absolutely authentic in flavor.

Unwrapping them can be a bit of a hassle in hot weather as the paper sticks to them. Refrigerate, unwrap when cool, enjoy!

If you're a ginger freak, you have just found Paradise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great candy & makes great cup of tea, October 8, 2008
By

I started eating this candy when I was pregnant with my son about 3 years ago. It really helps with nausea and I always keep a pack with me. This also makes a great cup of ginger tea. Just put 2 to 3 of the candies in a cup and pour hot water on them. Start stirring and when they are mostly or completely dissolved, you have a great cup of ginger tea. No need to add sugar or anything else. I have morning sickness again and am constantly eating this candy and making tea with it. I introduced my mother-in-law to it and she loves it now as well. The cup of tea can also help when your stomach hurts and with indigestion.

FYI: Do not try to peel off the second wrapping on the candy. You can eat it since it is made of clear thin rice paper. The rice paper also dissolves in the hot water when making your ginger tea.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for nausea and other problems like morning sickness..., September 13, 2008

I have used "Ting Ting Jahe Ginger Candy" for over a year now because it helps me with nausea. I have chronic pain and have to take strong narcotic medicine which makes me very nauseated. Even though this is in a candy form, it works and it also has a great taste and is chewy. I recommend this to anyone who has motion sickness, morning sickness, nausea or an upset stomach. I don't know what I would do without it, plus you can get it at a very good price on here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes a delicious cup of tea, October 31, 2011
This review is from: Ting Ting Jahe Ginger Candy (5.25oz) (Misc.)
These ginger candies are great on their own, and make a great cup of tea as well. Just drop one or two of them in a cup of hot water, and steep for about 5 minutes while mushing them around to help dissolve them. They will completely melt and make a delicious, sweet and gingery cup of tea. If you find them too spicy on their own, making them with the tea significantly cuts down on the spicyness but still gives you the sweet ginger flavor.
