As of the date I write this and the date I purchased it, there is no mention in the title or description that these are plastic. I figured since "Classic" was in the title that they would be wood.

I'm not taking any stars off the rating, as some might prefer the plastic, and my complaint is with the dolt who uploaded this product's information & not the product itself. But if you are looking for wooden tinker toys you need to buy another set.

We're sending these back and not exactly pleased with having our time wasted and a Christmas present delayed.

I knew from the reviews that these were plastic. DH and I both have fond memories of playing with our set of wooden Tinker Toys when we were kids, so we were disappointed when we received this set and found that the pieces are jumbo-sized compared to what we had as children. The pieces in this plastic set of Tinker Toys are 2-3 times bigger than the original Tinker Toys. The storage bin is equally larger than the original, and creations make a much larger footprint, too. My four-year-old does have a bit of difficulty putting the pieces together and taking them apart again. We end up building things for her, and then, she doesn't like it, because the creations can't stand up to play. They come apart when played with, so they're best for just displaying what you've built. She hasn't really taken to it, and we're very disappointed in how large the pieces are. It's not getting played with. We would've returned it if it hadn't been a mail-order purchase. The plastic does seem durable, but don't get this set, unless you don't mind your Tinker Toys being XXL.

The package is very misleading. You see the word "classic" , and small letters whispering "plastic parts".
The photoes of the actual product is too small for us to tell they are plastic.
It is not wooden. Parts are all plastic.

What's more, the plastic parts are so unstable that whatever we make can not stand up. Now this is so very frustrating to both parents and kids. My kids thought their creations keep on falling down because they are doing something wrong.
I wonder if Hasbro or whoever ever tested these parts by playing with them before putting on the market. If they did even for 5 minutes, they would have known it is just impossible to make a microphone stand like they suggested on the instruction. Very poor quality. Made my kids think they are not good enough to build anything. We did not like it at all.

I received the regular tinker toy set. Not Girls Pink as ordered.
There was no instruction booklet included as advertized.
I like the toy but very dissapointed in amazon.

Our 6 year old daughter loves her Tinkertoys. I was disappointed that they are not compatible with the wooden Tinkertoys from her older brother. This pink, plastic version is as sturdy as the wood, yet the hollow tubes have allowed for creative, new uses.

Perhaps I should have read the tin more carefully but when I saw these were "Classic" Tinker Toys, I assumed they would be the same wooden ones I grew up with. I was all the more excited to see them availavle in such cute colors for my daughter. I was totally disappointed when we came home and opened the tin to see ALL the pieces are plastic, not at all like the "Classic" toy we all know and love. My daughter knows no difference and loves them regardless but at the risk of sounding like my mother, they just aren't made like they used to be! Still a cute toy but be sure to read the box/container if you are looking for the old school version...

Our 7-year-old daughter received these when she was 5 and she still loves this set because it has pastel colors for girls. She builds all kinds of things from a microphone stand to an airplane. I even enjoy playing with this toy. I just wish there were more pieces because we run out quickly. The container is 50% larger than the toys need. A play date favorite!

I have three girls who love pink. These tinkertoys have been played with every single day by all of my girls. My oldest is 11 and youngest is 5. We have the regular wood set and I have asked the girls which ones they like best and of course they say the pink set. They just recently have asked me to buy more so they can build more things. This is a large set and I bought some tinker fairy set on amazon that compliments it well (little fairies and wings, ect). The set is plastic and personally I like it better than the wood set...I know, it's not like when we were kids, but the plastic has it's advantages. First, my dog doesn't want to chew on the plastic rods like she did the wood ones. Second, the kids don't chew on the rods like they sometimes would with the wood ones. I would highly recommend this set!

My 4 year old daughter loves anything mechanical and loves pink. I got this for her and she loves it. Many simple things that kids can make themselves from Tinkertoys.They appear to be made well and should give a long life. I have Tinkertoys when I was a kid....made from wood. These are well made from plastic. Now in my opinion the plastic will hold up better in the long term than the wood.I know wood is what we remember but I think these plastic ones will live longer!
