This review is from: The Tinkling Symbol: An Asey Mayo Cape Cod Mystery (Paperback)
I happen to be a fan of any mystery that can amuse as well as confuse me. Because of this I just love the characters and situations in any Asey Mayo book.

The Tinkling Symbol is full of those wonderful Cape Cod personalities from the one legged yard man who used to perform in a Circus to Wealthy Socialites.
Finding a killer is not an unusual occupation for Asey but finding out that the body of his friend, who eye witness thought was shot was in fact stabbed in the back starts this crazy search for an agile, and clever killer who always seems to be one step ahead. It seems that everyone and his cousin keep stealing Asey's Porter also. He has to fight to keep track of his car as well as the situation.

The dead man had a lot of people who just might be mad enough with him to kill him. He also had Asey looking into the recent death of his daughter. Was it a suicide? Did she jump or was she pushed? Why had she and another town girl died from a fall off the same cliff within a few weeks of each other. Does her death tie in with her fathers and if it does, how? How could he have been stabbed, and by whom and why?

There are plenty of characters and lots of mad scrambles before Asey finds the answers.

If you like your serious mysteries mixed with a good dose of color and humor The Tinkling Symbol is a good read!
