I was worried about the reviews when I purchased this.
First off- I am very pleased with this doll. It is expensive, but the craftsmanship is superb.
The hair is perfect. Soft, wild hair. Like a baby waking. If you ever had a waking baby you would know..
The face is beautiful, just like the pic, and the colors and creases are truly lifelike and a masterpiece of art..
The pacifier fits perfectly.
Anatomically correct, but not obscene. Perfect for teaching children about life and body parts.
Every inch of this doll is expertly detailed from the top of it's head to the toes, (which the nails are beautifully manicured and painted)..
I know this is a collectors doll, and it clearly has proven it's worth. But my 9 y/o daughter is going to love it.
It has a faint smell of baby powder, not over-powered, light clean smelling, like a baby.
The weight feels right.
The size is almost life like.
The eyes do not close. But the are really nice to look at.
You can't position it.. The arms and legs are not really positional.
But, it is positioned already in such a lifelike way, that it looks and feels like a real baby.
I am very happy with my purchase. It was expensive.
But this is nothing like your average walmart doll. You can't get this at walmart.
It is amazing and lovely, and well worth the money, if you have an actual appreciation for such artistry.

I had no idea she would smell just like a clean baby! Pleasant surprise! She doesn't look exactly like the pictures, and the binky doesn't have the "handle" on it, but other than that she is perfect and I love her!

Lovely Lauren, newborn doll, April 10, 2011

Lauren, in the advertising photo, looks exactly like a newborn, and a beautiful newborn, at that. In real life, though she is perfectly anatomically correct, her face is not beautiful, and the shape of her head, hidden by the cap, looks very odd with her very round cheeks, with pronounced sucking musculature, but a head that looks like she's spent too much time in the NICU (newborn intensive care unit) where soft, little preemie heads take on the shape of their beds. Looking at the photo, I'd buy her in a moment; holding her in my arms, she is not "lovely" Lauren, really only looking "right" with the pacifier stuck in her mouth.
However, she's soft and would be great as an educational toy, easy to cuddle and talk about body parts to young siblings.
