Editorial Reviews

. . . finely tuned, poetic novel. Beautiful and thought provoking. Anyone with an interest in people and nature would enjoy it. -- LighthouseLiteraryReviews.com - FIVE BEACON REVIEW

Tinnemaha Creek does a really good job of illustrating both sides of the wild protection issue. -- Tami Brady, TCM Reviews

From the Publisher

Tinnemaha Creek, a contemporary novel, takes on an issue that's all too common today. What to do when wild creatures wander into our backyards.

Who's right? The animal rights' advocates who believe wildlife and humans can live in harmony? The people who want wildlife eliminated to avoid any threat? And what of the cougars? Will they be the ultimate losers in this deadly battle?

Taddeo, having spent much time in the Sierras consulting with ranchers, wildlife specialists, and Native Americans, obviously knows the area extremely well. His tale of those people and the wild creatures will enthrall you.

More About the Author

One day riding a train from Rome to Florence, I was gazing up at one of the hilltowns when I had the strangest feeling something happened to me or an ancester of mine in just such a place.
I also have a deep concern for animals, especially the big cats, surviving in the wild near encroaching human settlements.

THE AFGHAN TIGER A young veteran returning from the war in Afghanistan seeks to earn his living in the art world but is haunted by a traumatic experience and must return as a civilian to make right a terrible wrong.

NIGHT WINE follows a young winemaker's development as he and other immigrants influenced the Napa Valley wine industry, an interest I've long pursued.

ANNA'S PASSION is a contemporary tale about a young woman finding her place in an industry dominated by men.

AUGUST IN THE MIND set mostly in Montepulciano, a medieval hilltown in Italy, explores the possibility of genetic memory.

TINNEMAHA CREEK A wild life biologist attempts to draw peace out of the chaos which occurs when two young girls searching for wildflowers are approached by a cougar.

Meet me at the cantina. We'll have some wine and good conversation.

This story illustrates new understandings that researchers have about cougars. It also is an entertaining story written well enough to give you a real sense of place and the characters involved. The author delicately handled issues with wildlife and ranchers, giving voice to all the sides of some hot issues without pandering to one side or the other too much. I liked that he stuck to facts when describing the lives of cougars while making the story readable and entertaining. The characters he paints for us might seem a little extreme, but since I live in a small town where meetings on wildlife management are still as contentious the ones in this story, I knew the author was not exaggerating. I hope to see more from this author.
