4.0 out of 5 stars An interesting read, August 27, 2010
If you like TinTin you`ll love this book. It goes into detail about every TinTin story and even gives some background on Herge himself. I really enjoyed learning some of the trivia about the stories. Very interesting.

4.0 out of 5 stars My quick guide to Tintin, May 14, 2011
By
Briony Coote (Lower Hutt, New Zealand) - See all my reviews
This book is very handy as a quick guide to the history of Tintin if you don't want to wade through a big volume. However, I do find that its reviews of some of the Tintin books are a bit harsh. For example, the guide's review of The Shooting Star dwells far more on its oversights and controversial politics than whether it is a good story. Someone who knows nothing of The Shooting Star's history (such as a kid) would be more likely to rate the book based on how entertaining it is, and they would be more likely to consider the villain Bohlwinkel your typical ugly comic book baddie than Jewish.

But then, reviews are always a matter of opinion. The reviews themselves do show the evolution and development of Tintin, and how Tintin himself reflects political, social and ethnic attitudes of his time. If you want a quick, handy reference guide to Tintin, this is it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great snakes!, August 21, 2011
I loved this overview of Tintin's adventures. Having read each book ten to twenty times, it was nice to revisit them again in a new way. The author does a great job of putting each book in both a series and historical context and includes many interesting facts about their creation. My only complaint is that some reviews are too harsh, but I guess you can't give every Tintin 5/5. Lots of fun.
