Product Description

Color: Dark Toffee Blonde Caramel 6TF

Tints of Nature is the first range of long lasting, permanent hair colours containing certified organic ingredients used in an advanced formula to cover grey hair. There unique blend of natural and organic
Ingredients, combined with plant-derived extracts and vitamins C and E, will actually enhance, protect and moisturise as you colour your hair.

Kit Includes:
A bottle of Tints of Nature color gel, and a bottle of Tints of Nature Color Fix plus shampoo and conditioner sachets, a pair of plastic gloves and full instructions.

Because of the more natural method used by Tints of Nature, the colour of your hair can only be lifted by one shade. This means you can only lighten your hair by one level.

Each of the permanent hair colours is described by a number followed by a letter. This is called an ICC number.
Ranging from 1 (darkest) to 10 (lightest), the number on the box signifies the depth of colour.
For maximum grey coverage, use 1N-8N.
If you wish to counter unwanted red tones in your hair, choose one of the ash shades.

I purchased this product for the first time only recently, after doing some online research. I was looking for a healthy alternative to a brand that I used for almost a decade. I have about 20% gray hair, more so on my temples, and my natural hair color is dark brown. The Medium Brown 4N by Tints of Nature seemed to be the best match, so I gave it a try. I had nothing to lose but gray hair.

When I got the package, I read everything on the box and in the instructions, just to make sure I'm not missing any warning, as we all know, these things always come with all sorts of warnings. Though, I did not do the allergy test 48 hrs ahead as I never had any allergy issues before, even with brands that are known to be less safe. And I did not regret it, because I had no issues at all. It's been now 5 days since I used it and I am completely fine.

As for the product, I instantly liked it. The color smells very nice, it does not have the typical chemical/toxic smell to it, and I did not even have to turn on the fan in my bathroom. The preparation time is just as with any other brand, as there are two bottles that need to be mixed well, and you are good to start with your journey. The mixed color paste is just thick enough that it does not drip from your hair, and still, you can run your comb through your hair if you need to. I also like that it is made of the certified organic ingredients, and that it has the least amount of the toxic ingredients, which they have to use in order for it to fully cover your gray hair. Be aware that this is not a 100% non-toxic/organic product, however, it is the least toxic permanent hair color that I could find on the market.

I began having obvious allergic reaction to hair dyes at the end of 2011 (took awhile to recognize). I did some research, thought maybe Tints of Nature would be safer...the product description makes you "feel" like it might be safer. (It has a lot of organic materials, but still has PPD). It claims to be more "organic". I have read that PPD builds up a toxicity in your system (I even waited for over 7 weeks since my last reg hair dye). My reactions included: redness, itchiness, sores on my head, hard time breathing, and hives that are still on my face. I am going to Vegi Dyes next. Just a big word of caution for those with problems with PPD, this still has it in it and it is still dangerous at low dosages...be careful.

After paying a fortune to have my hair dyed at a salon which used Organic Color Systems, only about 2 weeks later the color had already faded a lot and my gray roots showed through completely again. Since I was going on vacation and short on time, I decided to try Tints of Nature 6N dark blonde that I found at Whole Foods.

It's now been over 2 weeks and the color hasn't faded at all and the gray is still completely covered (and I've been in the sun every day on vacation). It also looks natural, as opposed to one solid color. It hasn't turned brassy either, as hair color that doesn't have a lot of ash in it tends to do on my hair.

What's more, it was very easy to use, inexpensive, and it's safer and gentler than most hair dyes I've found (no ammonia, minimum PPD). For all of those reasons, I love it and recommend it.

do not use if you colored your hair with another product, whether a month or a year prior. it melts the hair. i had to have it cut from long to short. i was later told (by the supermarket i shop from) to use it only on natural, uncolored hair that if you have no choice but this product... (they did not recommend this brand) i don't color my hair often. when i do, i use loreal. the only product i use with chemicals in it. i don't like chemicals, but loreal never caused any problems. make sure to do a strand test before. even if i did, i probably wouldn't understand the meaning of the result, because my hair gets a little dry when applying color. yet now i know... reading other reviews, do allergy test as well. i don't recommend Tints of Nature brand. i will never use any of their products again.

also,
i emailed them about my problem and asked them to reimburse me for the hair cut i had to have because of their product; and more importantly to put a warning on the box saying 'do not use on colored hair' so no one else has this terrible experience. they played devil's advocate with me to the point where according to them i was making false accusations. i told them about the personnel at wf market told the company she will not recommend knowing how it damaged her hair after she did hair strand test. and i asked them to read other reviews on amazon so they can correct their mistake and have loyal, happy customers in the long run. they told me that i must have had bad hair to begin with -i always got compliments on how soft and shiny my hair was-, and threatened me that i can't post comments on amazon!! what kind of hair dye messes up hair like this? i used their product a month after i did my roots and a year after my hair was colored honey-gold blonde at a salon. the most arrogant and ignorant company i ever had to deal with. it ended up me asking them not to write me anymore. they are disturbing.
