Book Description

July 1, 1998
Tiny Bubbles is the newest graphic novel from cartoonist James Kochalka. Magic Boy's hypochondria gets the best of him in Kochalka's most ambitious graphic novel yet. A chance meeting with an action-painting robot forces Magic Boy to contemplate the meaning of art and his own technophobia. Heady stuff leavened with Kochalka's usual bratty humor and thick brushstrokes. Tiny Bubbles is a wacky masterpiece by one of the strongest new talents in comics!

About the Author

James Kochalka, besides being King of All Media in Burlington, Vermont, has been making waves in the national underground comics and music scenes for a couple of years. His comics are filled with a playful whimsy mixed with a cold analytical sense that combine for an uproarious experience.

4.0 out of 5 stars Reclaim your forgotten childhood sensibilities!, March 4, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Tiny Bubbles (Paperback)
It may not seem like much at first glance, but James Kochalka has a charming style that endears his readers to his work. His main character, Magic Boy (based on the author himself), could easily represent the child in each of us. He's curious, unsure about life, in need of affection and always looking for a good time. Consequently, 'Tiny Bubbles' captures all the sense of wonder most of us have long since forgotten we used to have.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Vanishing Genre, February 12, 2006
This review is from: Tiny Bubbles (Paperback)
Given that the genre is disappearing for some reasons not very clear to me, this graphic novel by cartoonist & novelist James Kochalka still amused me when I had found it again on the shelf and read it the second time.
