2.0 out of 5 stars tap bug
I love Tiny Love products.

But this item is totally a disappointment.

The tap feature does not work.
There's a seperate small cheap Chinese device in the middle of the product. I've plugged it out and tried to figure out how it works. But in order to make it work you have to hit it hard (I mean very hard). And It does not work when you put that...

This review is from: Tiny Love Activity Ball (Toy)
As a speech and language expert at Play on Words, I look for toys that can stimulate language: Give this lovable guy a push and he gladly rocks and rolls just out of reach so your baby chases after him, exploring and discovering his wobbly gait. Each nudge brings on one of 5 entertaining sounds to make your baby smile. The friendly face with bug eyes and dimples, two antennae just the right size for nibbling, a colorful neck to stretch, a handfull of colorful textured rings, butterflies and ladybugs to describe and beads moving to the action all qualify this as a great toy to encourage language development.

This Tiny Love Activity Ball has all the elements for stimulating language--lots to talk about concerning, color, texture, sounds and activity. Parents can describe the bright colors, patterns of stripes and polka dots, plenty of textures such as soft, hard, bumpy, and smooth and sounds that accompany movement whether rocking or yanking on his head and feet. Remember to follow your child's focus of attention and describe what she thinks is interesting, not you! If she is chewing on the antennae or playing peek-a-boo with the ladybug, that is what you want to be talking about. Research shows that children take in more language when we are talking about what they are interested in. Isn't that true of us adults too?

There's a seperate small cheap Chinese device in the middle of the product. I've plugged it out and tried to figure out how it works. But in order to make it work you have to hit it hard (I mean very hard). And It does not work when you put that device into the toy.

In order to make it operate, you have to bang it very hard to the ground..

My daughter loves this toy now at 6 months and I can see it growing to be even more fun for her in the next few months since she hasn't even tried to pull the head out of the ball. It features a magnetic hand that she loves to pull away from the lady bug over and over. She also likes to play with the attached rattle and there is a crinkle flower she enjoys as well.

This is the best toy i ever bought for my daughter, she 6 and half months old now. And this toy fascinates her, with sounds and mobile parts. this little ball like doll makes her coo and giggle all the time.

There are some things that would interest a baby such as rings to slide, a crinkle flower, and a magnetic hand. The ball also has a cute face that vibrates when you pull it out. It does have some flaws unfortunately. The ball is supposed to make sounds, but it only does so when it is thrown or hit very hard. It isn't very sensitive to touch I guess. The head is also very hard to pull out.

5.0 out of 5 stars My daughter LOVED it!, May 21, 2007

It just depends on the child and I guess the age. My baby liked to look at it/feel it when she was young, but it was when she got around to nine months and nearly walking, she enjoyed it more. Not a waste of money in my opinion.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Waste Your Money, February 5, 2011

I am very disppointed with this toy. It is not as decribed. It is much bigger that I expected. My biggest compaint is that from the pictures it appears that when the head is pulled it stays up as it shrinks back into the hole, but that is not what happens. The head falls over and doesn't stay out. The legs are also a problem. They don't really "Pull out". Also the toy came without working batteries. All I can say is save your money!

My son loves this thing. He rolls is around, hits it to make it make noise and pulls on the plastic rattle. He can't pull the head out, but loves when we do it for him. I can see how it will be even more fun for him to chase when he gets into crawling mode. Great purchase.
