3.0 out of 5 stars Good concept but still needs improvements
The concept of the product is great but I ended up having to return it because of several reasons.

1. The main zipper in the front keeps falling apart. I had 2 Nano bags that did the same thing and I only used them once each time.

2. The hole where the bottom buckle goes through is too high and small. It is such a struggle to take the baby out with the bag out of...

This is, without a doubt, the single best baby item we have ever purchased! We live in Maine, so we endure some of the coldest conditions a baby can ever imagine. Our daughter is 5 months old, and we have been using our Nano Bag since she was born. The wind-proof outer layer and thick fleece lining is a perfect combination for cold winter conditions, rain, and wind. Unlike the carseat covers that have a hole in them for the baby to peek out of, this zip-front design allows you to make small adjustments for various temperatures, and ensures a proper fit for babies of all ages and sizes. There are drawstrings around the head opening to keep baby warm on extra cold days, and there is plenty of growing room at the bottom of the bag. At 5 months old, our baby's feet don't even come close to the end of the bag. We love being able to dress her lightly so that we can make the carseat straps very snug, and the Nano Bag allows us to do so even on the coldest of days. When we get into the warm car, we simply unzip the front so she doesn't overheat, and then re-zip when we arrive at our destination- very quick and simple adjustments. It also makes her feel less confined than strapping her in with bulky outerwear. This way, she stays warm and can wiggle her arms and legs around in the comfort of the bag. We get comments on "how wonderful" this Nano Bag is whenever we go out, and we rave about it to everyone who asks about it. I would pay twice as much as I did for this item and highly recommend it to every parent! ENJOY!

5.0 out of 5 stars throw out the snow suit!, May 13, 2002
This review is from: Nano Bag Yellow (Baby Product)
The hood feature is what makes this bag so great, it keeps every bit of warmth in when you need it. And when you don't, just undo the drawstring. In the coldest of temperatures our newborn was warm. This product is particularly great for times when you are going in and out of doors often. Just unzip and rezip to prevent your baby from overheating. Plus, no need to wake a sleeping baby, just unzip when you go indoors and leave the baby alone.

I saw one review about not putting anything bulky behind your baby while in her car seat. Remember the Nano bag is used in place of a bulky snow suit or jacket - so its not any more dangerous than your baby's outerwear.

So get rid of your snow suit and use the Nano bag.

5.0 out of 5 stars Safe & Warm, December 8, 2003

This review is from: Nano Bag Yellow (Baby Product)
I live in Germany where winter has definitely arrived. My baby was born preemie in early Sept, too small for the Nano bag at first. It was still warm at the time.
I started using it about 3 weeks ago when she hit 9 pounds/21 inches. I have a 5 point seatbelt in an Evenflo carseat. With the hood folded around the back of the seat and the bag's strap slid under some holders also in the back, the bag is secure and unmoving. Her harness fits snugly against her without any slack once I tighten it up.
In fact, the seat fits better now than with any jackets I've put on her. They're too bulky & fit her tiny body loosely, but take up space in the seat.
She has to keep warm now that winter has arrived and I fail to see how coats and blankets tucked around her will protect from nasty weather. The carseat now lighter and easier to carry without worrying that blankets will fall off or drag in puddles when taking it out of the car.
It's certainly warmer in 20 degree weather going to/from car & buildings than any coat or blanket I could have tucked around her. And it will not blow off in high winds.
This product might not have been "safety tested" by the NTSA, but I fail to see how it would interfere with a seat's ability to ensure that baby does not escape the seat in a car crash. Everything is secure & tight as it should be. I am paranoid when it comes to safety seats (benefit of being a cop for 8 years), so I would not use this if I thought it would choke or cause her ejection from her seat in case of a crash. It's why I deliberatly purchased a carseat with 5 point harness instead of one providing only 3point harness protection. Highway speeds at 100+mph is much more worrisome and a reality here than in the US, so I am a very concerned parent.

The only thing I do not care much about with this product is the top slot provided for a 3 point harness. It sits where her head rests and gapes a bit. I am still using the "manufacture provided head rest" and it covers this spot. So this is manageable, but I am considering stitching that slot up. Too bad it didn't come with a velcro closure.

I like this product so much that I am considering buying the toddler version when she outgrows this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Now you Can take your baby out into the Elements year round, February 11, 2005
By
This review is from: Nano Bag Yellow (Baby Product)
We bought the Nano bags last winter for our boys. We thought we would just use them during the winter time in the infant carriers, we were wrong.

They are not the easiest bags to find. We bought 2 at Babies R Us and then ordered the third on Amazon.com. We have triplet boys and wanted one of each color. I did not want the yellow. If you find one and you want one, do not walk away. Buy now and do not regret later.

We were at a baby fair last year and there was a company selling a similar item at a cheaper price. It was the same but the material and construction were not.

There are other bags out there that are similar but not the same. The Nano bag is the only one that I found had a weather resistant outer layer. There is another one out there that is all cotton material and just absorbs the rain and elements. The Nano bag repels the elements.

Very easy to clean, Just stick in the wash. I put it in the dryer on a low cycle. Have never had an issue.

In the back of the bag there is 2 horizontal openings, one on top and one on bottom. Then there is 2 zippered opening in the middle. There is a zipper down the front. The opening in the back so that you can bring straps through and seat belt your child in.

We original left them always strapped into the infant carriers and then we would put the child in. Now that they are out of the Infant carriers we have put them in their stroller. We are now talking about getting the toddler size for their booster car seats.

They are great for those winter walks. I had my babies in February and by March I was walking around the neighborhood. They were bundled up in their Nano bags and only there rosy cheeks showed.

These bags keep them so warm that we hardly ever put jackets on them. In the summer, spring and fall time we used the Nano bags to protect them from the elements. Now that it is winter we use it as a out layer. I can not imagine bundling three babies in long snow pants, jackets, hats and mittens. These bags are wonderful. They are so contained and kept warm. I have never had an issue with a child being cold or getting himself out of the bag. When we have forgotten hats in the past we put the top over them and they look like a baby in a papoose. It is great also because when you get to your destination you do not have to worry about removing out layers because the babies will overheat. You just un zip the front zipper. They are still strapped in to their stroller or seat.

The price does seem a little high compared to others but think about the money you will save on Winter jackets and boots that they will outgrow in a month or two, Mittens that they will loose.

We get comments ever where we go. People just love the Nano bags. I highly recommend them.

We have tried to purchase the Toddler Bags called the Gaga bags. They are sold out everywhere. I have called the company and they told me that they will have no more for this season and that they will not have them till the Fall of 2005. I have found another company that has a similar product called "Baby Footmuff". They are very expensive. Double the Gaga bag price.
If you love the Nano bag and see the Gaga bag, BUY IT. I thought I would be able to order it on Amazon when they grew out of the Nano, but they are sold out everywhere. I regret not buying them at the beginning of the season.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, August 20, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Nano Bag Yellow (Baby Product)
One of my favorite baby products. We NEVER put a coat on our daughter. It is great for babies born during the fall/winter months because if fit snuggly into the car seat. I liked this product vs. others like it because I like the zipper in the middle. I bought a bundle me light for the spring/summer, but the zippers were on the side. I found that a little annoying.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Nano bag is the best baby bag out there, September 27, 2005
By
This review is from: Nano Bag Yellow (Baby Product)
Why is the nano the best?

1. The nano has flexoible openings that zip shut again to accomadte any car seat, and stay flat behind your baby.
2. It's water resistant, so you can brave wind and rain without worrying too much about the tiny angel while wrestling his or her sibling into their car seat.
3. it's warm enough for any climate, but can be made cooler with the pull of a zipper, and it's roomy enough to accomodate even a small two yea rold. or some extra blankets if you're a worrywart or the heater is broken.
4. Babies love to go into a this comfy nest.
5. The nano bag washes well, and dries quickly. ours lasted through two children almost without pilling.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great!!!!, September 19, 2005
This review is from: Nano Bag Yellow (Baby Product)
I have to say i am confused by the negative comments here. As for safety...it is totally safe. It isn't that thick or puffy. A snowsuit or coat is far thicker and you need something in cold weather. That is reality. We live in Maine so i know what i am talking about. I had NO trouble at all getting our baby in and out of it. The whole thing unzips nicely and presto baby in baby out! I didn't use the hood at all just because it wasn't necessary. Our little guy would get too hot. I wrapped the elastic hood part around the top of his infant seat so the whole seat was covered with fleece. I put a hat on him instead and it worked great for us. I never had trouble with the buckle hole not lining up so maybe it is the brand of car seat you have or something. I don't know about the zippers leaving marks on the baby's back. We never had anything like that be an issue. I don't see how it could happen since the flat part of the zipper is on the inside and up pretty far. I love this cover and can't wait to use it for our new baby in December. I highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, February 16, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Nano Bag Yellow (Baby Product)
This product is great. If you live somewhere that ever gets cold, buy it. The nanobag is so much easier than covering baby up with blankets that constantly fall off the baby carrier - ususally into a mudpuddle. It also seems warmer than blankets and is definitely more wind resistant. It is like a teeny sleeping bag.

I would not worry about the safety. If it is cold outside you are going to have to put something on your baby to keep him warm and unless your car seat manufacturer makes a product like this and that's what you use, whatever you use will be an "aftermarket product". My baby is totally secure in the nanobag and it does not interfere with his car seat latching properly, etc.

It's great. Buy it.

2.0 out of 5 stars This product is useless, February 2, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Nano Bag Yellow (Baby Product)
I registered for the Nano bag after reading these reviews and was sadly disappointed. I received it as a gift and now I am sorry my family wasted their money on it. If you have an infant carrier and can keep the Nano bag in it all the time then it might be okay for you, but my baby has outgrown his. After trying to use the Nano once, I have to say, never again. The slit for the crotch strap was way too high and small and it was almost impossible to strap my baby in and out of the carseat and stroller while he was wearing the bag, which is sort of the whole point. I had the bag open for ten minutes while I struggled with my gloves off and we both got frustrated and cold. The hood is just awful as well; you can't adjust it and it has very tight elastic. Once I had my child in it and finally got the traps threaded through all the straps, the "face hole" didn't line up with his face.

I gave it 2 stars because it is nicely made if you can find a use for it, such as going outside for a moment while carrying the baby and not minding that there is one slot in the back that does not zip shut. It fits up to 32 inches, for those wondering.

AS far as all those hyperventilating about the safety of this item, your child needs some sort of protection against the cold and the Nano bag only goes between the child and the straps in the back, in the front it goes over the straps. A bulky snowuit or jacket goes between the straps and the child in the front AND back. So don't buy the Nano Bag because it is unsafe, don't buy it because it sucks.
