Great Mobile but Dangerous,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tiny Love Symphony-in-Motion Remote Mobile (Baby Product)
We love this mobile and so does our 5 month old son. He squeals with delight whenever it is turned on. However, I was horrified when, like some others, he awoke crying at 3 AM one morning (he was 3 1/2 months old then). When I went to check on him, I saw that the whole assembly with the animals and beads had fallen on his head! I was very upset. He had the string wrapped all around his wrist as well. We reattached the mobile the next day (I left it out of his crib that morning) because we thought maybe it had just come loose for some odd reason and it was a fluke. To my shock, it fell again a few days later, although he was not in his crib.I contacted Tiny Love via e-mail and they told me that they had received similar complaints and that one of two things were happening: 1) People were not holding in the little button when attaching the animal assembly to the 'arm'. If you don't hold the button in the whole time it can fall like this. Tiny Love did say they would send me a new one at no charge so I gave them my name and address. Three weeks went by and I had not received it so I sent a follow up e-mail. A week later we received our new parts (it came with a new arm and the hanging assembly). If we had not had this problem, I would have given this product a 5+ star rating. However, be very careful when you install it, and check it frequently to ensure it is not coming loose. We installed the new one that we just got a couple of weeks ago and no problems yet. Ours had chipped on the inside so it was not snapping into place and that is why it fell.

Clever design, very interesting and attractive to our baby. Probably be a heck of purchase, if you aren't troubled by the three negatives we experienced....(1) We own a Morigeau-Lépine crib with curved rails on its sides and rear. Though it was not apparent on the box or advertisements, this mobile simply cannot be safely mounted on cribs with curved rails without extensive modification to either the crib or the mobile. I will go so far as to say that for all practical purposes this mobile can only be mounted on cribs with horizontal rails. If your crib doesn't, then you're out of luck (of course you can disable the drop-front to your crib in order to make use of its horizontal rail, but that seems like a rather drastic solution to make the mobile work). (2) The music produed by the mobile is surprisingly high quality for an infant's gizmo. But there are only two volume settings: loud and medium. No real "quiet" setting. (3) The mechanical spinning motion on our model broke after ten minutes. I am not exagerrating: ten minutes tops, with no rough handling. Not sure if it was an electrical or a mechanical failure, but the bottom line is that it doesn't work anymore.

Love it (and true: the remote is really not that necessary!),

My two cents about this fantastically designed mobile by the Tiny Love folks: our two-month old gets "hipnotized" by the figures SO MUCH, that the truth is he stops noticing anything else aruond him. This is why the remote is not that big of a deal: he doesn't really mind if you come in or out of the room, and as a matter of fact, he even loves the mobile if it's stopped. As for the figures, they are very colorful and well designed too... and the elephant is just too funny, twisting like crazy because of his extra weight). All in all, a highly recommended mobile (any Tiny Love), but if you want to save a few bucks ($10 I think it is), skip the Deluxe version and get the regular one.

Great, but save money - skip the remote control!,

Our 3 1/2 month old son loves the Symphony in Motion mobile, even when it's not moving. The colors and shapes are very stimulating for little eyes and minds. Don't expect this mobile to put the baby to sleep, however - it's more for keeping the baby entertained for 15 minutes or so while you shower or do things around the house. My only major complaint is that I bought the one with the remote, thinking that it would work from our bedroom. The outside package did not mention that you have to be standing no farther from the crib than in the doorway of the nursery to make it work. (That piece of news didn't come until I had opened the box and read the instructions!) Hence, I spent $10 extra for the deluxe version with the remote, but I've never used the remote once. I'd recommend getting the model without the remote.

Great mobile but very poor design,

My baby loved this mobile. It has great colors and movement that entertained my baby for hours, but it is designed poorly. I read the other reviews and decided I would get this one and tape it so it didn't fall off on my baby's head. After purchasing it, I could see how it could easily fall off because of the poor design. Secondly, it is a bit bulky and hard to set up. Thirdly, I would save the money and not get the remote control. It is a joke. I never even used it because it didn't work to turn the mobile on, all it did was switch songs. Last this mobile just quit working after a month of use. The motor just quit.I rated this mobile a 3 just because of its great color, movement, and music, but the design quality is a 1.

best mobile on the market,

Worth the money! Our baby was very difficult in the beginning, and this was one of the only things that would entertain her. It bought us 15 minutes of free time, and we knew she was content to listen to the classical music and watch the mobile. Best of all, it comes with a remote control so the baby doesn't even see you start it up again.

Great Mobile,

First of all, I am a picky mom. I research everything before I buy it, and this mobile was a clear choice for me. After listening to the music on several mobiles, the tiny love mobiles were by far the least "mechanical" sounding. The classical music is refreshing and 15 minutes each composer is great! It's turning pattern is fascinating, and the constant motion of the beads is very fun for an infant(yes, they do make a noise while they slide, but so what). So, why buy this one instead of the previous versions? The colors and animals are still fun and bright, but a much better match to most nursery decor. The remote is a great addition, and I think it is very handy. Other than that, I think any tiny love mobile is a smart purchase. I'm adding that my first one broke too, but I had absolutely wonderful customer service, and got a new one easily! It works like a charm.

Stimulating to look at, but...,

I LOVED this mobile from the box, but out of the box, it just didn't work as I had hoped:
1.) Our crib is slightly curved on the ends, so it was a challenge findng a safe place for it to mount without damaging the crib. 2.) As the next review says, there are two volumes: loud and medium. I had to put masking tape over to speaker to make it bearable for a sleepy baby. 3.) When it is spinning, there are little squares that slide down the mobile. Cute concept, but they make an awful racket that isn't even rhythmic. 4.) Like the review below, ours stopped spinning after a very short time in use. I didn't really mind, though because it stopped the scrapping noise of the little squares and let me just play the music. In concept, this is a beautiful toy, and broken or not, my daughter still loves to look at the spirals and the toys. We have many Tiny Love toys and she enjoys them all, but this particular one has some bugs to work out.

It is "okay"...,

First and foremost, the music puts ME to sleep. It is very soothing. There are a few things I don't like about the mobile. The volume only has two settings-high and low. It gets pretty loud and because it is in the crib, it can be pretty loud for a baby's ear. We've already started using it for our newborn, he may not see too far from his face, but he definitely can hear the sounds. The remote control is pretty handy, the only problem is you still have to get up and turn it on at the base before you can use the remote. Other moms of newborns have told me that the clicking sounds it makes from the toys sliding back and forth wakes their baby, but my baby just sleeps right through it. I guess it just depends on how much your baby can adapt to noise. Overall, it's big and a little over-stimulating, but the music is nice.

fun mobile... the music box is great,

We had originally bought a cute mobile that matched my son's bedding set but you had to wind it and it only played for a minute or two. He would cry when it stopped... 2 minutes isn't long enough to go do anything... we didn't use it to put my son to sleep (but it wouldn't have been long enough for that either). Then several moms suggested this mobile to me and we got it when my son was about a month old. He loved it. It kept him entertained and the music was great. I love the fact that its plays for 15 minutes or so and shuts off on its own. (NOTE... we never used the remote... just get the cheaper model without it). We took the mobile part off once he could sit up and he could turn the music box on himself. We now have baby #2 on the way and I bought another Symphony mobile (minus remote) so that my son could keep the music box in his crib, he still turns it on every day at nap time. We have used this every day for 14 months now and only had to change the batteries a couple times... not bad. At first I thought the mobile was going to be over stimulating but we don't own many toys that require batteries (didn't even have a bouncy) so I didn't mind one product that was a little flashier.
