Mining the tones,

"Tiny Reminders" is a superb example of what true soundmeisters can concoct in the studio. This album is a feast for the ears! The Swordsmen have melded hip-hop beats with a European techno sensibility to forge a future urban sound as heard through a child's ears. Simple, yet elegant and danceable with a cool attitude.

GRIMEY FILTHY NASTY TECHNO,
By Nick (Colorado Springs, CO United States) - See all my reviews

Well... this CD is pretty AWESOME! If you are a fan of Frankie Bones/Detroit type techno, then pick this up! While I was expecting more from this CD, i am surprised to find that it sounds a bit like Mr. OIZO (broken speaker, clicks and hard funky bass lines, though not as HIP HOP) Definetly pick this one up! If I had to classify this release I would call it "IDM/techno" Only gripe I HAVE is theres not enough interesting samples!

Not Stay Down.....get up!,

I was introduced to Two Lone Swordsmen a while back with their Stay Down release. I was impressed to say the least. With their new effort Tiny Reminders, they all but abandon the underwater sound of Stay Down but retain the dub element in some of their tracks. Collectively I would have to say that this is the most refreshing electronica I have heard in a long time. (and I listen to alot of electronica) This cd is not really "dancey" but definately alot closer to dance than Stay Down. Makes you wanna shake your ass...but not your whole body. If I had to compare this cd to something I would say a cross between Mu-ziq and Plaid (Both on their better days). But if you are looking for a unique infectious sound, this cd is definately for you. Fans of Wagon Christ, Jega, and Plaid should put this on your "to buy" list.
